Hostess Gift Brings Lingering Loveliness

We are joining a new blog party, Home and Garden Thursday, at Kathy's blog, A Delightsome Life. Be sure to stop by to see all the entries and to enjoy Kathy's very beautiful blog!

Today we are sharing some food for the soul----flowers.

Flowers bring immediate delight to so many of the senses.  They can uplift the spirit and bring a smile to the giver, the receiver, and all those who see them.

The sweet bouquet  shown in today's photographs was actually a hostess present we received for a New Year's  Eve dinner party we had.

What a joy the flowers have been ever since, bringing a jolt of color and cheerfulness to the kitchen table.

Here it is, 10 days later, and many of the flowers are still alive, silently continuing to ring in the new  year with their colorful beauty.

There are pink roses, one creamy white rose, bright orange and pink Gerber daisies, and dried purple flowers which I can never remember by name.

Maybe the secret to having long lasting blooms is to whisper daily to the flowers, telling them how sweet they are and how much you appreciate them. Do you ever do that?

DO YOU BUY FLOWERS FOR YOURSELF OR FOR OTHERS IN THE WINTER?

I STILL have flowers from a Dec. 14 concert on my dining room table. I can't believe they have lasted this long. Also just bought gorgeous yellow tulips for a dinner party I had the other night. They brighten up the room.

Well Susan I'm so happy that they are still bringing you joy. Flowers can just bring a smile can't they?

I buy myself flowers from the market about every 2 weeks - they just make me smile.

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Beautiful flowers. I can't be without flowers. I buy myself flowers every week. I also bring flowers to a few shut-in's I know and they light right up. I love how you have captured these. So pretty.

These are so pretty! I haven't bought anyone or myself flowers lately. My daughter bought me a bouquet of colorful carnations almost two weeks ago and they still look wonderful. I smile when I see them. :)

Have a great weekend,
Karen

I think it is sweet when a guest shows up with a gift! The flowers are truly lovely. I treated myself to a small bunch of roses today - they do brighten these winter days! Thank you so much for joining in at Home and Garden Thursday,
Kathy

Okay I am the wet blanket here but I am allergic to flowers - but I love them and I love looking at them and I do buy flowers for others! Sandie
