Home Sweet Home

Stained glass is an art form unlike any other.

It's amazing how artists can work with pieces of glass . They start with sharp-edged piles that can, one would imagine, literally slice human skin, if not carefully handled.

I imagine that stained glass artists must wear some kind of gloves when working on their masterpieces.  It boggles the mind to think of the huge stained glass windows in churches and cathedrals. Many of them are breathtaking.

While I love the look of stained glass, its high prices are more than my budget can handle. So it was a stroke of immense good luck to find the adorable piece with the message,  "Home Sweet Home."

It was a thrift store find for a whopping $5 bill.  See why it's almost impossible for me to pay full prices for anything?

I lifted it off a shelf, held it up to the light, and returned it to the shelf. This scenario was repeated several times but the last time, the piece landed in my shopping cart.

It goes nicely with green glass pieces in a pantry window, don't you think?

It's so pretty when the late afternoon sun comes through, illuminating everything in sight.

I really believe in the message, too.  Home IS sweet.

To me, home is the most wonderful place in the world.

While I love being out and about, working, doing errands, shopping, etc., it always brings me joy to drive the car into the driveway and be "home."

When Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote, "Homekeeping hearts are happiest,"  he sure spoke to me.

Today we are joining Home and Garden Thursday at Kathy's blog, A Delightsome Life.

Stop by and enjoy all the wonderful entries you are sure to find there.

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT "HOME SWEET HOME?"

What beautiful art glass! I used to work with a woman who did it as a hobby. She did inserts for some kitchen cabinet doors and backlit them - they were stunning!

Thanks for stopping by my blog, it's always a pleasure to stop by and see what's new with you!

Homekeeping hearts are happiest. At least I think so. I love nothing more than being at home. That is a beautiful stained glass piece and at only $5 a true treasure. I bought some glass paints so I could try and create the stained glass look on jars -- it definitely takes a special talent. Wishing you a wonderful day at home sweet home. Tammy
