Book Sale Mania

Among quite a few compulsions, my mania for books is one of the more joyful ones.

There are floor to ceiling shelves on two living room walls in our home, all filled with books.

There is a jammed bookcase in my bedroom. More books are piled on the little table near my bed because there's no room in the bookcase.

There's a basket of books inside the closet on the floor.

My home office has, let's see, three bookcases, all overflowing with books.

So what did I do last weekend?  I attended a library book sale!

Drove to the town the where the sale was located and marched right into that library and stomped into the basement auditorium where the sale was being held.

Despite twinges of guilt for even being there, it was great fun.

One day very soon some of the books must most definitely be weeded out to make room for "new" ones.

I've promised myself it would be done this spring and today's only March 24th so there's plenty of time.

Books, like old friends, just grow on you and you become attached.

And it's sooooo hard to say goodbye.

DO YOU LOVE BOOKS?
DO YOU HAVE  A LOT IN YOUR HOME? HOW DO YOU WEED THEM OUT?

Oh yeah....I love books! I love library sales, and any used book event, or stores. But, I also love to buy new ones, too. I guess you can say, "I'm a Book Lover!" :)

I too love books! Get rid of? Actually, I have a fear the books will someday become obsolete like so many other things. I like the feel. The texture. I will be waiting till he'll freezes over before I get any read book cases. So I pile them on every available surface. Love, love, love to read!

I really don't buy too many books anymore, I usually borrow from the library. But I do have a spot in my attic that has all my children's old story books. And I keep all my Gladys Taber books on a shelf in my guest room. Kit

I got a kindle for Christmas so most of my new books will be from online . I bring old books from my real bookcase to the library book sale to sell or to a used book store or to goodwill. I won't have so many anymore now. I love to read...it is a definite hobby of mine.

Oh, yes. I (we) have books! Six very full books shelves, not to mention piles here and shelves there. PLUS my husband has an entire wall of books in his office at the church.

I have laid awake at night trying to figure out how to begin getting rid of some. I go to the shelves to try to sort, but I just can't do it. It would be like giving my children away.

I love to read books! I have several bookshelves full. I do try to move them out after I read them. Share them with friends and family or on to the thrift shop. If I didn't I couldn't move around in my house. I keep some books but most I read once and I'm done. Hugs, Linda

I love books too. I usually read two at a time in different rooms. Today I found Wally lamb's book, The Moment I First Believed and can;t wait to read it. I loved his other books, She's Come Undone, and I Know This Much is True. The best thing is I bought it for a dollar.

I don't actually feel the need to keep books once I've read them. Unless it is one that I will reread in the future. A friend and I used to swap books and would write our review of it in the front, sign and date it and then pass the book along to others. Happy reading! And purging. :) Tammy

I am with you on the book love and the massive quantity of books. I considered weeding them out and taking them to the bookstore to sell them back or to goodwill, but I love my books.

I also have a CRAZY amount of books sitting around waiting to be read. I buy SOOO many of them when the yard sales and book sales roll around, and Goodwill is another huge source of books for me since theyre under $1-2.

I haven't actually bought a NEW book in forever.. I take that back, I did buy two new ones for hubby but thats because he wanted certain ones that I haven't been able to find because they're not really the type that anyone reads LOL so I did buy them online.. and let me say.. it KILLED me to pay full price for them!!

I can't wait for the book and yard sales to start up again!
