Read This and Weep

Today's post is going to deviate from interior decorating or fun themes. The theme is anything BUT fun.

The only reason I am writing this post is because the story you are about to read touched my heart very deeply.

It is my own way of doing at least "something."

There's one thing that is virtually impossible for me to understand and that is domestic violence.

Granted, human beings get angry. It's part of the human condition.  But how can one person beat up another in a fit of rage or kill another?

And what if there are children involved?  What if they lose a parent because of domestic violence?

Susan Roux is a fellow blogger from Poland, Maine. She's a tremendously talented artist and I just love looking at her paintings.

Her blog is An Artist's Journey.

On March 1st., she wrote about a true tragedy.

Rachel,  the late daughter of yet another very talented artist blogger, Don Hatfield,  has been killed, apparently by her husband, who is now incarcerated. She died in her home in Cameron Park, CA.

There are three precious little children left behind. Looking at the face of the little girl in the header of Don's blog fills me with immeasurable sorrow.

Susan's husband put together a video about the tragedy which you can see here:  http://hatfieldfineart.blogspot.com/2012/03/blog-post.html

Honestly, when I watched that video, tears streamed down my face. My heart breaks for Don and those precious little babies.

I cannot begin to comprehend domestic violence. It boggles my mind.

If you are able to help financially, I'm sure that would be deeply appreciated.

Perhaps you could buy one of Don's paintings.

Maybe you could spread the word and tell other bloggers about this need.

Or please, if you are so inclined, at least pray for this fellow blogger, Don, and his beautiful grandchildren.

And for God's sake, if you know anyone in a domestic violence situation, help them get out before it's too late.

HAVE YOU HAD ANY EXPERIENCE WITH DOMESTIC VIOLENCE? DO YOU TRY TO UNDERSTAND IT?

How very, very sad. I didn't watch the video....Just couldn't bring myself to do that. I don't understand ANY kind of violence, and of course the worst IS domestic.

We live in such a senseless society. Good is evil, evil is good! I am praying for this precious family. I wish I could purchase one of his art work pieces. They are beautiful. Such a sadness.
I am trying to rally quilters to help put a quilt together for a dying 4 year old girl. I will pass your request along please pass mine too.
I am stunned how anyone could commit such a horrible crime.
My sister was in an abusive marriage. I remember my sweet daddy telling her ex hubby "A real man would never lay a finger on a woman. He is not a man but a menace. He should only treat her with kindness and love." I adored my dad, he use to say "your mom drives me crazy and I feel frustrated sometime but I could no more hurt her than a sparrow." I wish this family much love and hope and peace. Blessings Anne

Oh my, Susan. Terribly sad. I posted an update on today's post for others to stop by here. I also tweeted his video. I hope it helps bring attention to this and even some help.

Susan thank you for doing this post. Hopefully it will help yield the help he needs. Don told me that if the story really touches someone, even if they feel they cannot afford to really give a substantial gift, he asks for $5. He said the donor will feel better because they contributed and in the end all those $5. will add up.

Again thank you and God bless.

So sad and so hard to comprehend. Many years ago we had a neighbor who was beat by her husband. I helped her leave him(she was pregnant as was I)...she went back to him. They moved away...I will always wonder what happened to her.

25 years ago, My sister's best friend and godmother to my niece who is also my Hubby's godchild, was stabbed to death in her kitchen by her husband while their 2 daughters were sleeping upstairs. SHe lived directly in back of my sister.
He left the house and drove to the state police barracks( leaving the daughters in the house with their dead mother) to turn himnself in.
He was later killed by another inmate in prison. I always say that "every dog has their day". I feel justice was served!

Hugs,
Deb
