Estate Sale "Treasure"

Anyone who regularly reads my blog, Writing Straight from the Heart, knows that estate sales are my siren songs.

No matter how hard I try to stay away from them, if one is advertised in the classified section of the newspaper,  something strange happens.

My car backs right out of our driveway and drives to the sale.

Sometimes, if it's a heavy bill paying week,  I scrounge for quarters on the bottom of my  purse so I'll have extra spending money. ha!

Well, at a recent estate sale, I lamented over the fact that it was a heavy bill paying week.

There wasn't much left over to spend.

The sale included literally hundreds of items that belonged to an artist who had gone to the other side.

Among her loves in life were many, many projects in needlepoint, embroidery and so forth.

On one table, projects had been placed inside gallon sized plastic bags.  I opened one up and just about stopped breathing.

It depicts a very lovely, old-fashioned woman putting roses in a vase. The artist had already completed the flowers in French knots, I was told.

The piece is unfinished and I plan to eventually find someone who might be able to complete it. Then, someday, perhaps, I'll be able to have it framed.

I find it to be rather enchanting.

On the bag was a sticker and written clearly were the numbers, $1.00.

Can you imagine that?

Today we are joining "You're Gonna Love It! Tuesday" on Kathe's blog, Kathe with an E.

Stop by and read some of the other really great entries!

DO YOU EVER LOOK FOR EMBROIDERED PIECES AT ESTATE SALES?
