Bread Box Helps Organize Counter

The kitchen counter tends to be a space that gathers way too many items.

Believe me, I'm no neat freak but I do like some semblance of organization.

Packages of rolls, bread, muffins and so forth really tend to pile up on the counter.

"What I need is an old-fashioned bread box," I told myself.

In a mail order catalog, I found one!  The cost? About $52. YIKES.  Wayyyyyyy too much.

But lo and behold, last weekend at a yard sale, something on a blanket in the front yard jumped out at me.

It was an  old-fashioned wooden breadbox that even came with a hole for ventilation! woo hoo

From the looks of the inside, it didn't look like it had been used much at all.

The cost?  $2. Perfect!  Much better. I bought it.

Once home, scrubbed it, let it dry, then painted it a pale, lovely yellow to match the kitchen walls.

I gave it several coats to really cover the wood.

Now the kitchen counter looks much neater, my wallet is happy and so am I.

That's the remodeled breadbox, at the top of the post.

Today we are joining You're Gonna Love It on Kathe's blog, Kathe with an e. Go on over and pay her a visit. You'll be able to read all the cool entries.

DO YOU USE A BREAD BOX IN YOUR KITCHEN?

Susan,
That's wonderful that you found what you were looking for! This is a pretty yellow color. I have been looking for a bread box, and all of them are chrome or black these days. Whatever happened to the nice looking bread boxes? I love this one cause it has a hole for freshness.

Hi Susan, Your bread box is lovely. You choose a beautiful paint color. Isn't it wonderful when you see just what you have been wanting at a $2 bargain?

Thanks so much for stopping by and visiting my Dick and Jane post.

Have a great day, Connie :)

Funny thing is, we have a bread box but use it to put medications and pills (go figure). Bread has to go in the frig so it doesn't mold.

Popped in from Gonna Love It.

There was a time that we had a bread box on the counter. There was more counter in our former house. In this one, there is a drawer that we use for bread.

You certainly did come home with a great find!

I have a bread bowl. Our bread doesn't fit in a bread box. So now the bread box houses all our medicines, most of which we don't even need or use. Every time I buy something to organize clutter, it gets full and then there is still stuff to be organized. A never ending battle. Best wishes, Tammy

Good day! This is kind of off topic but I need some advice from an established blog.
Is it very hard to set up your own blog? I'm not very techincal but I can figure things out
pretty quick. I'm thinking about setting up my
own but I'm not sure where to begin. Do you have
any points or suggestions? With thanks
