Pondering the Purchase of the Purple Purse

One day this past week, I took a stroll through Marshall's, one of my favorite stores.

Their clearance aisles are always good and it's a rare occasion when I don't find something there to come home with me.

Meandering near the aisle where purses are displayed, two beauties  from India caught my eye.  One had a turquoise top and the  other one, purple.

They were both very ornate and colorful.

Now you are reading the blog of a person who LOVES color and wild designs.

Both purses were on the clearance rack for $28, down from $36.99.

Loved both of them but did I need  them?  Noooooo.  So I left the store sans  purse.

The next day, the purses were still floating around in my mind. That's usually a sign that maybe I shouldn't let the purchase go by.

Having decided to buy the turquoise purse, I called Marhall's  and asked a salesperson to hold it for me at the front desk.

The person checked and told me the turquoise purse was gone but the purple one was still there.  I told her I'd come by in the afternoon.

Sure enough, when I got to Marshall's and looked for the turquoise  purse, someone had already bought it.

Consequently, I was happy to use my birthday money to buy the purple one.

I think it's very pretty.  There are lots of sizzling colors and hand embroidery on it.

Someone, somewhere in India, made a real work of art.
Part of me hopes that no children in a sweat shop made the purse.  It's patterning is so happy, however, I wouldn't be surprised  if it had been made by children.

So now the purse is home, safe and sound, and I love it.

Here's my question for you, dear  readers:

WOULD YOU USE THE PURSE  SHOWN IN THIS POST DURING THE WINTER OR WOULD YOU PUT IT AWAY AND WAIT UNTIL NEXT SPRING?

I think the purse is bright and colorful and I would use it in the spring/summer.

I like the purple purse. I would use it in the winter IF I had a bohemian style jacket to wear it with. If you have an old fur coat (thrift store buy) that is to your knees or longer, that might work.

I don't know if you have to pick a season as much as a feeling. Purple makes you happy and I'm sure you will accessorize properly whatever the weather outside is:-D
Beautiful purse--the detail is just exquisite.

I say do what you want when you want. Who decided certain things or colors need to be seasonal. A pop of bright colors in winter time is just what folks need to perk up the day. Have fun! To heck with what anyone thinks. :) Best wishes, Tammy

A fun buy! I would definitely use it now. Add a deep purple turtle or a black one or a black blazer...jeans...perfect!!! Oh and some turquoise beads over either purple or black!

I think it's just whimsically beautiful, and would be a wonderful accent piece for whenever the occasion calls for a fun, decorative item! I can see why you were happy to find it the next day! Lovely detail work that someone spent a lot of time designing, and like you, I hope it was not a child in a sweat shop somewhere....

Well, I am hoping that purple is still a color that will be worn this fall! I'm out of luck if it isn't!:) So, if I you feel like carrying a purple purse in the fall, that's what I would do.:)

I love Indian embroidery. I have several wall hangings made like this around my home. Personally I would use the purse year round. In the spring it's bright and bold, in the summer it's perfect for the beach, in fall the trees are all orange and yellow and a little purple adds a bit of fun, in the winter when we need the color there it is. A perfect year round purse. Take care.
