Reflection

One thing I'm determined to do this Christmas season is take time for reflection.

Usually it's non-stop busyness and do, do, do.

You know how long the "To Do" lists can get.

Some nights it's easy to fall into bed totally exhausted.

Well, this year I plan to pace myself.

There's a yearning to just sit and listen to the quiet.

To gaze into the firelight and have a heart equally warm with gratitude.

Decorating, baking, entertaining, singing, shopping, wrapping, and so on are all wonderfully fun but so is spending time with the Baby Jesus.

Time after time, I must remind myself that He, after all, is the reason for the season.

HOW DO YOU TAKE TIME TO REFLECT DURING THE HOLIDAYS?

Gazing at a lighted christmas tree in a darkened room always caused me to reflect on many things. Calming.

Sitting in the living room at daybreak makesme thankful for another day and also the one behind me.

Evenings spent in the glow of the Christmas tree are my favorite way to reflect on the Christ Child, the Light of the world.

Like so many others, looking at the lighted Christmas tree is so calming and reflective. I see ornaments from my children and places I've been and I am so grateful for my life and my faith.

Once the tree goes up...I take time to sit in the room with all the lights off (except for the tree's) and just think about all the wonderful Christmases we've had and will have. Life goes on, XOXO

I'm not too much of a decorator and I buy many gifts online so do not frequent the stores much either. I do put up a tree though and it is small and lovely...fake one..but much easier than getting a read tree. I always take time to think of the reason for the season as my choir sings so many lovely Christmas songs that are sacred! We are doing a concert today at the local mall. Happy Christmas season to you and yours!~

Having special Advent devotions helps me pause and reflect. There are some very meaningful church services planned during this season, too, and attending them guides me through my reflection. While there will be some hectic times, it's good to meet each evening with a peaceful time.

I SO hear you...ditto to all you wrote. Today I put up and out all I am going to this year. A couple of years ago I bought a prelit tree and no longer put ornaments on it. I love the simple white lights in the evening...this is a case of less is more!

I find myself being reflective in some sense almost daily, as I think about people who have blessed my life in various ways. When we focus on the positive things in our lives---and we all do have many of those---it makes our lives much more pleasant than when we sit and stew over things that people did that made us feel unhappy. I am convinced that God is an optimist, so I just try to find the good that He gives us each moment! Your home will be magnificent, I'm sure, Susan, and I'm looking forward to seeing the "finished product!"

I like to sit with the Christmas tree lit up, and some candle light. Especially early mornings before anyone else is up, or occasionally if I wake up in the night for awhile.
Beautiful, peaceful solitude with the Lord.

If you follow your yearnings you will truly have a blessed Christmas. Like you I plan to stay focused on the true meaning of Christmas and not get caught up in the worlds Christmas... in fact the world does not have Christmas anymore just a Holiday.

This is a great post - and it is so true. The whole season is about HIM. And we are going to be home - on vacation - and have some time not to be so busy so we can reflect on HIM! sandie
