Yummy Way to Start the Day - Good Food and Sweet Guests

On both Saturday and Sunday, we had guests over for breakfast.

Some years at Christmas, guests are invited to dinners but this year, I switched to breakfasts.

There's more energy in the morning plus, I love making breakfast foods.

Both days it was fun to set the tables with  Christmas china and makeshift centerpieces.

The menus were very similar, too, in an effort to keep things as simple as possible.

The bacon, I spread out on cookie sheets, cooked it the night before, placed it in the refrigerator on paper towels, and reheated it in time for the guests.

The sausages cooked in the morning.

Sliced blood oranges, kiwi slices, and berries made colorful fruit trays.

Creme Brulee French toast rounded out the menu as well as eggs,  scrambled on Saturday and rancheros style on Sunday.

Sure was a lot of work but lots of fun, too.

Guess what else?

Sunday afternoon I spent quiet time reflecting on the couch near the Christmas tree and it was sweet.

WHAT WAS ONE FUN THING YOU DID ON THE WEEKEND?

Susan I love your Christmas table and I think that Santa in the middle is one of the prettiest Santa's I've ever seen - it is so pretty.

We went out for Chinese dinner tonight!

Lovely. I like the Nativity as a centerpiece for breakfast! Hubby has the flu so not a fun weekend here!

You are a most lovely and gracious hostess, and I'm sure your guests enjoyed themselves! Great planning, too, getting the bacon done ahead of time and in the oven! My most unusual event of the weekend was a luncheon cruise on a local riverboat---a reception for a newly-married young woman and her hubby. The weather was perfect for the cruise, and the food was delicious! I hope everyone is having a pleasant Monday now.

I like the breakfast idea, Susan. (We've done that for a few special occasions, too.) Your table settings are lovely.

And I had several interesting experiences this weekend. Maybe the most "dramatic" was a tour of a local mansion decked out for Christmas...Such a pleasure it was.

Your tables are beautiful. My daughter used to accuse me of taking photos at Christmas and Thanksgiving of the beautiful table settings but no, I was taking photos of our family at the table,

How lovely! Yes, breakfast is a great way to start the day -- and even better, once the guests have gone and the cleanup is done, you have the whole day ahead of you! Have a great week. Tammy

I went to a fabulous Christmas concert at a local church where a fifty voice choir and lovely orchestra performed Christmas carols. We had an audience sing a long too and it really set the mood for the season.
I love your breakfast ideas...great job!

You are the hostess with the mostest.... I mean that! I enjoyed a wonderful Sunday service then my Frank and I met my best friend Sue and her Ron at a restaurant for seafood and gift exchange. ♥
