First Guest Breakfast of Christmas, 2014
While serving lunch or dinner for guests is always fun, hosting breakfast is my fave.
The first guest breakfast during this year's Christmas season was festive and fun.
One of my dearest long-time friends gifted me with these Johnson Brothers "Old Britain Castle" Christmas tree plates which I absolutely love.
So I've been using them for weeks along with bright red glasses!
Fruit is always great to have on hand to serve.
Red glasses were perfect for ice water topped with fresh cranberries and lemons. (Thank you, Pinterest!)
It was poured from a transparent glass pitcher.
Also served were eggs, bacon and soft flour-sprinkled "snowflake" rolls but I was too busy preparing (and eating) everything to snap photos. Sorry.
Why not pull together a Christmas breakfast for friends and/or family members?
Of course, a sweet manger scene in the middle of the table is a necessity!
Your guests will love it and so will you!

Yummy Way to Start the Day - Good Food and Sweet Guests
Some years at Christmas, guests are invited to dinners but this year, I switched to breakfasts.
There's more energy in the morning plus, I love making breakfast foods.
Both days it was fun to set the tables with Christmas china and makeshift centerpieces.
The menus were very similar, too, in an effort to keep things as simple as possible.
The bacon, I spread out on cookie sheets, cooked it the night before, placed it in the refrigerator on paper towels, and reheated it in time for the guests.
The sausages cooked in the morning.
Sliced blood oranges, kiwi slices, and berries made colorful fruit trays.
Sure was a lot of work but lots of fun, too.
Guess what else?
Sunday afternoon I spent quiet time reflecting on the couch near the Christmas tree and it was sweet.

Sunday Morning Breakfast! Come and Get it!
Breakfast!
It’s a favorite meal of many people (including moi.) It’s so much fun to put together, too.
If there’s no spring to be found outside where one lives, one can create spring inside by putting a sky blue tablecloth and flowered yellow placemats on the kitchen table, along with flower covered plates.
Here is a recently made breakfast meal:
Fat sausage links sizzled in one pan. In another large frying pan, I sprinkled what Rachel Ray would call EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) and added onions, red peppers, mushrooms, all finely chopped, and potatoes cut into small cubes.
Just as guests arrived, I whipped up large brown eggs with some half and half and poured them on top of the cooked veggies. Added some spinach leaves and thin slices of sharp cheddar cheese. Folded over the egg mixture in the pan to make an omlette. Added pepper and a sprinkle of the spice mixture called “Adobo,” frequently used in Puerto Rican cooking.
On the table, the omlettes and sausages joined a plate of orange slices and strawberries as well as some sugared cherries from Germany (purchased at Trader Joe’s.) Only one way to describe this breakfast, namely, “yumma dum dum and a mmm mmm mmm.”
There are no photos to show of the omlettes because everyone just dug right in and ate them up!
