A Different Kind of Pizza

Some people, when they think of pizza, automatically envision cheese and pepperoni topping.

Or mushrooms, peppers and onions.

Or plenty of plain cheese on top of tomato pizza sauce.

Recently, I tried some Greek pizza. While it was quite delicious, there was very little of each ingredient.

So I decided to try my hand at making it at home.  At the supermarket, I found a mound of pizza dough in the frozen food section.

After defrosting it, I rolled it out in an oiled pan.

Then, I grated eight ounces of feta cheese and sliced several sweet baby tomatoes.

A package of spinach was defrosted, squeezed out and sprinkled with some garlic salt.

Setting the oven at 425 degrees, I spread the the cheese onto the dough. Then, the spinach and  tomatoes were added.

The pizza baked for 20 minutes. It was absolutely delicious. The spinach and tomatoes melted into the feta cheese, making for a tasty treat.

It's definitely a pizza that will be made around here again!

Today we are joining Thrift Things Friday over at Diann's blog, The Thrifty Groove.

Making the pizza shown in this blog is definitely more thrifty than buying it from a pizza restaurant!

Stop by Diann's blog as you will find many really super ideas from other bloggers.

This sounds like a great pizza! I love the addition of spinach. I've made a Greek-type pizza with Feta and kalamata olives ever since visiting Good Earth restaurant, ordering their Greek pizza, and deciding to try to replicate it. I'm going to try your recipe. I like Greek pizza way better than the typical pizza.

Thanks for visiting Cranberry Morning. I hope you'll stop in again! :-)

Sounds wonderful to me! I love Feta and recently had it on a "Mediterranean Grilled Cheese!" which I'm going to try to replicate, XOXO

Oh, yum! Now, THAT has just become my favorite pizza! I'm not a fan of pepperoni, and we usually lean toward a veggie on the rare occasion we may be ordering one out somewhere.

This sounds really delicious! My favorite pizza would have to be grilled chicken and spinach, with Alfredo sauce instead of the usual. Of course, I have rarely turned away from any pizza I was offered, and my next favorite would be a bacon cheeseburger pizza! Not talking about healthy here, just yummy!! :-) Now, I'm hungry!

Thinking about folks in the Boston area this morning as the news unfolds in such a frightening way. Prayers for a peaceful resolution....

Oh Susan,
This pizza looks delicious with the tomatoes and the feta cheese. I think I am partial though, as I am part Greek myself.

Love,

I've never tried Greek pizza, before but it does look good. Seems like it's healthy too and that's a big plus for me. I'll make sure to find a place that has this on the menu or try to con someone to make it for me. Haha! Thanks for sharing, Susan!
