A Place of Peace and Serenity

The early evening air felt chilly but fresh and clean.

We walked up a small hill to my favorite spot overlooking a lake.

New England vistas have always touched my heart.

There is so much beauty here that it makes me ache with gratitude.

No matter how many times I've seen the sun peeking through the ancient trees, playing peek-a-boo in the evening shadows, the scene still makes me catch my breath.

After all the drama and sorrow of this past week, looking out onto the water and seeing the still leafless forest of trees brought deep peace.

A few young people mingled at the edge of the hill but otherwise quiet predominated.

Last autumn's leaves, that must have been under snow for months, still crunched beneath my feet.

Soon the sun began to recede behind the darkened hills that rim the lake.

We walked down the hillside to the parking lot, leaving behind the shadowy trees silhouetted against the dying sunset.

Life, despite all its disappointments, heartbreak and pitfalls, is beautiful and very, very good, don't you think?

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE PLACE TO GO FOR PEACE?

Very pretty. I don't have a favourite place. Just being out in nature, anywhere, fills me with peace.

Loved these pictures. My favorite place is down by the ocean in Dana Point. I go there often to look at the gorgeous waves and feel peace!

Hello from Spain: stunning photos. When I want to be quiet and no noise I walk in a park near my house. There are many trees and is a very peaceful place. Keep in touch

Noticed a gift of pink in the first picture, Susan. Had to change blog because of spam overload. I'll change it soon.

How far is that peaceful place from you - how beautiful.

I don't have a literal place like that - but I have set up a room for me that I love and feel peaceful in.

Also in my mind!

But we all need them.

What a lovely view! We live in quite a peaceful setting, not usually too hectic or noisy. It is calming to just look out the window sometimes.

Just beautiful --- beautiful --- beautiful! You have a lovely place to go when you need solitude and healing. I love that it is by water.

My favorite place --- the meadow at our cabin. Too snowy to get to yet, but I can hardly wait.
