Queen of the Living Room

You've heard the expression "Queen of the Jungle," right?

Well, our beloved Honey Cat's title is a little different.

It's Queen of the House.

She's an old grandmother cat, about 17 years old.

She was born in Arizona and moved with me to the east coast in 2002.

She was a tiny ball of fur when she first came to live at our house.

Our kids were young and Honey Cat was a huge part of their childhoods.

They are now all grown up and have spouses of their own.

Yet Honey Cat continues to thrive.

She absolutely adores luxury.

If I put fresh linens on the bed and top it with a soft comforter, I know where I can look for Honey Cat that afternoon.

She'll be sunk down, luxuriating in softness.

This past Easter, she perched herself on a pillow that was plopped on the back of the sofa.

Now that spring is coming soon, I'm already starting to worry. She loves going outside.

There are a lot of bully cats in our neighborhood. I wish I could keep Honey in the house but she'll be crying near the door to go out.

Hope she'll be able to still defend herself.

Queen of the House, may your reign continue to be long and healthy.

WHAT IS THE LONGEST TIME YOU EVER HEARD OF A CAT LIVING?

Hi, Susan! Your Honey is absolutely honey!!! so cute, and yea..cats like luxury stuff and like snuggle on the soft blankets and pillows!
I had a cat who lived for 17 years, he was old and in his last years couldn't even jump quickly from the floor to sofa and vice versa. I miss him a lot, because as you said about your children, I also spent a big part of my life with our cat.

Anyway, long life to your kitty!she is a real Queen of the House!

My cat lived to be 18 years old and was very healthy until the end of her life. She had a stroke three days before Christmas. I had many years with Tina Ballerina.

Well, Susan. Today just happens to be the 21st birthday of our cat, Shadow! I have a picture of him on my blog for today. He has no physical problems of which we are aware, though he definitely moves more slowly and doesn't groom himself as he did in past years. His appearance is beginning to be indicative of his years. He isn't a house cat, but has claimed a roomy storage room off the garage - with a pass through door - as his domain for the past nine years, and he tells us when it is time to lock him up at night. I plan to give him some extra brushing/combing time today. He loves the attention! Your Honey Cat is beautiful!

Susan, your Honey Cat is gorgeous! She is the Queen of the house for sure! Charlie is my oldest cat at almost 14 but Deb at Just Cats has had much older cats, into their 20's I think. I'm wishing a long and healthy life for your Honey Cat and my Charlie! Big Hugs, Linda

What a beautiful and pampered cat! I've heard of cats living up to about 20. We have a very old cat too. He won't come into the house, but is the king of our acreage. He sleeps on a cat bed that we've placed for him on the seat of a Bobcat in our storage building. But he really prefers to sleep wherever he wants. He's hard to coax inside. He's nearing 20 now --- the kids in the family were young when he came to live with us.

Looks like a very happy Kittie that doesn't mind be the Queen of the house!
Growing up we had a black cat name Kitty Boy. He weighted 18 pds. and since we lived in central florida -people would ask if he was part panther. He lived for 13 years. Haven't had a cat since --- we have become dog people.

Hello Susan, I haven't heard of one beyond 15. Your cats are precious - make me miss my sweet Valentine - we have three we share with our neighbor outdoors - rescued - would be interesting to find out the longest living cat. I do appreciate you sharing with Home and Garden Thursday,
Kathy

21...my niece's husband had a cat for 21 years. Honey looks young for her age...my Lucy and Ethyl are almost 13 and are beginning to show their age. I think love and good care keeps them going.
