Dinner with Style

The West Mountain Inn in Arlington, Vermont, serves absolutely delectable food on pretty Homer Laughlin "Seville"  china.

The chef, Jeff Scott, got an A+++ from this guest!  There wasn't a single thing I didn't love.

Everything is prepared with fresh, local and organic ingredients.

Mr. Scott sure does his alma mater, Johnson and Wales University in Rhode Island, proud with his gourmet meals.

The wood paneled dining room has green and white checked tablecloths with white cloths on top.

Writing will be limited in this post so you can enjoy the photos.

For an appetizer, I had absolutely delectable scallops with a maple sauce that had pieces of bacon in it.

Hubs had a mushroom with beets and chevre appetizer.

Our salads had a delicious maple dressing, too. How could it be otherwise? We were in Vermont!

Tiny servings of lemon sorbet helped cleanse the palate.

Hubs had a tasty pork dish.

I had chicken and artichokes served with melted brie cheese, glazed carrots, broccoli and potatoes.

One dessert served was peach and blueberry pie.

Also, a decadent peanut butter and chocolate tart.

It would be impossible to have dinners like this very often but once in awhile, while on an escape from reality, they are pretty special.

Want to see what's served for breakfast at the West Mountain Inn?  Stay tuned for, yup, another post on another day this week!
p.s. Just want to note that no compensation of any kind was given for this post on the inn nor do I have any connection except for being a happy former guest!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE DISH TO ORDER WHEN YOU ARE OUT TO DINNER?

Your post reminds me of my daughters playing, what they called, "The Food Game!" They'd love to show off their meal and then, start talking about the next one:-D There's a restaurant in Seattle, Cafe Flora, that serves the best vegetarian French Dip sandwich that my mouth just waters for. It's done with roasted portabello mushrooms. BTW, the peanut butter pie looks amazing, XOXO

In this case - I believe that I'll start with dessert first and just forget the main meal!! Well- can't forget the portabello mushrooms- love those!!

Oh, Susan!!! I am drooling all over the keyboard!!! Everything looks so luscious, and I'm sure you appreciated all the effort put into making your experience so special. My favorite thing to order depends largely upon where I am dining. If there's a place that really knows how to prepare liver and onions, then they will get my business every time!! It's hard to find that dish prepared just right, but I do LOVE liver, when it's done properly.

Oh my goodness Susan - that meal looks FABULOUS! I don't which plate looked the best. I think it was cute to get that 'little' dash of lemon sorbet to clean the pallet.

What a beautiful place, the food looks absolutely delicious. My favourite dish when I dine out is either duck or lamb, things you don't have very often.

The food looks delicious. I love anything maple and just recently purchased maple balsamic vinegar. Let me say it is to die for. I usually order beef out because we don't eat a lot of beef in my house so its a treat.

Thanks for sharing so many nice photos of food.

The green trees are so peaceful to look at especially for someone who lives in the city and green trees are rarely seen.
