Milk Glass Vase

Milk glass has never been among my collections, until now.

A next-door-neighbor of ours, when I was a kid, used to collect it.

Today, I really think it's a very pretty glass.

Did you know it also comes in other colors besides white? It does and many of the colors are lovely!

During a trip to Goodwill this past winter, I saw an entire shelf filled with really beautiful pieces of milk glass.

It think someone donated their entire collection to charity.

Here, to the right, is another little vase I picked up another time.

It's  on the table in the front hallway:

I bought the big vase shown at the top of this post for way under $10.

Thinking about all the lovely pieces I left behind made me return to the Goodwill but most of the pieces had already been snatched up.

See?  If you see something you like at a thrift store, it's best to buy it right on the spot.

"If you snooze, you lose," is true.

DO YOU LIKE MILK GLASS?

Both my Grandmothers had milk glass around the house. One had a cream light green milk glass of a chicken sitting on a basket. I do like it!! Many people don't really know what they have!

I have both those pieces --- they were my mom's. And I have a large "basket" milk glass as well, which was a wedding gift. Well, the original was. When my boys were small they were goofing off and broke it. Their allowance helped to replace it off eBay. LOL!

Milk glass reminds me of my childhood....I have a milk glass hurricane style lamp that does not go with anything in my home but I like it. :) Your vase is pretty and a great place to put Spring flowers :)

I particularly like the piece in the top picture, Susan. I love the color of the flowers in that vase. I've never had an urge to do any collecting of milk glass, though.

Hi Susan: I collect milk glass. Shocked? The very last vase is a perfume bottle. It looks so lovely as a vase. I will have to use my that way. I do think you are the best. Have a wonderful Mother's Day dear friend. Hugs, Martha

Like you, I have had an epiphany with milk glass. I have a large pitcher from my mother in law, found a small pitcher at flea market, as well as, a medium sized vase. Now for spring flowers to fill them! It rains here still....

I don't collect it either, but think it is beautiful. My mom has a cookie jar that I've eyed for a few years now. :) And I'm selling a magnificent pitcher and glass set in my booth at the antique mall.

I find so many variations of milk glass. Your knobby look is so cute.

An aunty of mine had these types of vases in her home, as a kid I always called it the white glass but I haven't seen it around for a while.

It's okay, but I love Lenox china and Fenton art glass. Of course, the possibility of finding anything like that in a thrift store is just about nil. :)

I love milk glass and have a good size collection of it. When I started buying it you could pick up pieces for very little money. It's gotten more expensive now but it's still a very thrifty collectible!

Linda
