A Frozen Winter Wonderland

Today is day three of the new year.

Schools are closed and the world outside is a magical frozen wonderland.

Last night I snapped the photos for today's post.

They will be the LAST of the Christmas season, I promise!

I even got brave enough to open the front door to take the shots of the front yard.

Let me tell you, it was c-c-c-c-c-old.

But inside,  it was cozy and warm.

The Christmas tree and mantel lights were the only sources of illumination.

I relished the last, fleeting moments of the pink and white loveliness.

Soon they will be taken down, packed away and hauled up to the attic until next Christmas.

Part of me wonders what changes might take place by then----what loved ones might not be with us anymore and other painful things that could happen.

There is no way I stay in that sad zone for long.

This precious life is to be lived , one sweet moment at a time in the present.

There's no need to worry about the future because none of us know whether we even have one.

We have only the gift of today and it is quite a treasure.

WHAT'S ONE FUN THING YOU PLAN TO DO TODAY?

I haven't thought about fun yet because of all the shoveling to be done. Some would call that fun. I'll have to make a snow angel. Your house looks beautiful. I always feel a little sad when I have to take down all the decorations.

I'm going to bundle, I mean really bundle up, and take our puppy, Lexi out for some fun in the snow. My husband is out snowblowing and will make several "paths" around the house and down to the lake and back through the woods, so we will walk along them in the wintry splendor and try not to freeze! Lexi runs and runs and does pirouettes in the air and so keeps quite warm.
I will rely on several layers of clothing and a steady pace.

The crock pot is going and soon will fill the house with it's tantalizing aroma. By supper time we will have a fire in the fireplace and a hot meal to savor. The tree, alas, will be down, but I will leave my window candles in for one more week to enjoy their enchanting and cozy glow!

There are many winter pleasures to enjoy and I will relish them all.

My "fun" was opting to stay home this morning rather than heading out into this rare snow (just about an inch) and cold (just at 18 degrees now) as we have no snow removal system in place in my area, and there are some hills to maneuver. I would have been playing bridge otherwise, so I will miss that. There are a few of the group who live in an area that will be cleared. Stay safe and warm, Susan!

Hi Susan! I have a lot of transcribing to do today, but am so blessed to work from home, especially when I look at the snow all over my car in the driveway!

I actually think we were quite lucky with this storm. The snow was light and powdery and there weren't any power outages, at least in our area. Tonight is supposed to be FRIGID though.

Stay warm!!!!

Hello from Spain: your last pictures are very nice this Christmas. I see on the outside is very cold. Your fireplace is gorgeous. In my country Christmas ends on January 6 with the arrival of the Magi. I am also sad to pick up Christmas ornaments. It's best not to think about the future. Keep in touch

Fun? Fun you say? I just got out of the rec center pool where I spent the last hour in the sunshine working out...now that was MY fun for the day. Keep warm where you are..stay by the fireplace.

I could feel the cold from your lovely pictures. It's amazing how you can photograph something so simple, but your eye for pictures makes it so beautiful!

We are expecting a foot of snow this afternoon. I find little thrill in it. I am feeding a family of feral cats in the park and feel so bad for them. Hurry springtime.

You know looking at those photos and I always love your photos and they are all very pretty. But sometimes I see something - you know I think weird.

But if there was no snow - you would not appreciate that beautiful warmth of your fireplace! And if there was not fireplace you wouldn't enjoy the snowy scenes.

It takes both to make the scenes so valuable - opposite sides of the same coin?

I love Christ mas pictures.

Believe it or not we are going to go for ice cream!

Hi Susan...your pictures are just beautiful! We have snow too and for me that makes it a wee bit more difficult to take down Christmas...so I think I may just enjoy it for a few more days!
