The Gift of Friendship

Goals for 2014 are  completed and ready to be worked on.

Little by little, Christmas decor is coming down and being packed away. (boo hoo How I love the Christmas tree and mantel lights.)

Just as I was ready to close the book on the 2013 Christmas season, my dear friend, Patti, came by with yet another load of presents.

We have known each other since high school, many decades ago.

One of the gifts was this exquisite Christmas ornament that was made in Poland.

It's pink and gold, two of my favorite colors.

That girl is too much!

I loved all her gifts, though, as she has a terrific eye and is a super duper shopper.

Isn't this poinsettia cup that was filled with candies adorable?

The Lenox platter, shown at the top of the post,  will be gorgeous on a tablescape next season along with the Lenox snowman candle holders!

She filled this basket with all kinds of goodies including Italian cake and Russian tea!

There's only one thing more precious than more Christmas presents and that's precious friends, like Patti, who brought the batch of goodies shown in today's post!

HAVE YOU TAKEN DOWN ALL THINGS  CHRISTMAS YET?

It is 12 degrees and snowing here in Michigan today. Today is usually one of the days I volunteer at a local nursing home, but tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and warmer - in the low twenties :-) So I will take down all the Christmas stuff today and do the nursing home tomorrow. One of the nice things you learn in the senior years - be flexible.

Oh, what wonderful gifts! I'm chuckling at your question. No, I've not taken down "all things Christmas." In fact, only the outside wreaths have come down. The tree us still up, but that is on today's list. Also, time to store away the Christmas china.

Good Morning from Oregon! No, I don't take down my Christmas until Jan 6th. I start to celebrate and Dec 6th and stop on Dec 6th...that gives me one whole month. I hate to take it down. We have company coming this weekend, so it's not a good time to be ripping down Christmas. Ava will be spending the night tonight too.Dolly time.
Happy New Year!
Love,
Linda

I am so far behind in taking down my Christmas decorations. I usually get a lot done on New Year's Day, but this year I didn't. Today is a rainy day and I'm just bundled up resting. It will get done, but just not as soon as usual.

My decorations were down the day after, but I do miss the lights. I like sitting in the light of the Christmas tree early in the morning.

Working on it...I quite like the extra space...good way to make a house feel larger:)
Thank you for your friendship Susan,
love your visits. I don't know if I am young....if 44 almost 45 is young I guess I am...my daughter will be 21 when she's married, and while that may seem young to be married, we are happy for them her fiance is 24. God is good and life keeps moving...Happy New Year!

Usually take down the tree on New Year's Day, but have been under the weather with a terrible cold; also decided it would b e nice to have the soft glow of the tree lights during the storm we are having. Tonight is definitely the last nite tho, as we always have a real tree and it has gotten very dry. I have 2 mantles that are decorated also, so will do those over the weekend. Slow but sure wins the race.

Nice gifts from a dear friend. Loved the ornament.

Such sweet gifts from your longtime friend! And so nice visiting with you this evening as the snow is falling and the business of the holidays are over. I have packed up everything with just the (many) containers ready to be stowed, hopefully tomorrow. I did a lot of cleaning today and maybe will have the house back in order this weekend. Sending the biggest wishes for a very Happy New Year!

What a lovely gift! A great friend for sure. :) Most of my decorations are now down. We always use the bowl games on New Years Day to pack up the tree. It takes so long...LOL Kit
