Ethnic Easter Eggs

Of all the Easter decorations around the house, I like my Polish and Ukrainian eggs the best.

They are so beautiful and rich in colors and designs.

I like to think of how each egg was once held in some one's hands as it was being hand painted.

The Ukrainian eggs, of course, are done with special instruments, wax and layers of  dye.

Because I love these eggs, they are kept downstairs year-round, in my late mother's china cabinet.

But during the Easter season, I take some of them out, place them in a glass dish and give them their own spot in the middle of the kitchen table.

That way, we can see and enjoy them every day.

This year the table is also covered with a white lacy tablecloth.

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE EASTER DECORATION AT YOUR HOUSE?

These eggs are works of art and family heirlooms. I usually have a bouquet of tulips or daffodils at Easter.

I have some of those eggs too at my house and they are so pretty. I display them in a glass bowl on my dining room table. I also have a ceramic bunny and a lovely duck on my table too!

Those are very nice. How long did it take to collect them? Do you still buy one when you see it?

I have got to get my Easter out and take a picture of something to show you.

Hello from Spain: your eggs are a collection of jewels. You have treasures. I like a lot. I do not decorate my house for Easter. I buy with chocolate colored eggs for my daughters. Keep in touch

Susan, when I was I had the black Easter egg the same as in the picture. Nowadays Polish Easter eggs are different from yours. There are mostly made in China and made of chocolate. In big cities we buy only chocolate ones. Traditions and customs have changed definitely.

What a gorgeous collection! They are certainly a colorful reminder of your heritage. Nice idea to have them in the pretty glass bowl on the kitchen table.

I do have one hand painted egg that my mother brought me from her wonderful trip to Poland. Thanks to a certain cousin for making that happen.... I have the egg in a little white egg cup arranged with some "easter grass"
and keep it on the kitchen window sill where I can enjoy it everyday.

I do enjoy decorating for Easter/spring and have lots of bunnies and have been brave enough to plant some pansies in the window boxes under the overhang. They are staunch little flowers who don't mind the challenges of a New England spring and are blooming prettily as I write.

Hi Susan,
Happy Easter, dear friend!
How gorgeous collection of Easter Eggs you've got there!
It's wonderful to keep those wonderful memories from your heritage and share them...
"One song can spark a moment,
One flower can wake the dream.
One tree can start a forest,
One bird can herald spring.
One smile begins a friendship,
One handclasp lifts a soul.
One star can guide a ship at sea,
One kind word can frame the goal."
Happy Easter, Susan, dear friend!
Have a blessed time with your dear family and loved ones!
My desktop computer broke down.
I let you know I borrowed a small laptop to type this note for you.
I can't afford to buy another desktop computer at this time.
Anyway, I still write and read my emails now and then.
God bless you, Susan.
Blessings,
Poet Starry.
