Flowers on Individual Tables Give a Nice Touch
"Make new friends but keep the old,
One is silver, the other gold."
I have no idea when or where I first read those lines, but they are so, so true.
It's wonderful to meet new people who become friends.
We need all the friends we can get in this ol' world.
Friends who go back decades, who share a history with us, are also very precious.
A recent gathering at the home of a dear friend of 34 years made me realize how blessed I am to have her and some other old friends, who were also there, in my life.
It's true that I've learned so much from these dear souls.
We've shared the births and college graduations of our children.
We've shared laughter and, yes, tears, especially when we lost our mothers.
As always, at the gathering, the hostess's touches of elegance and grace could be found everywhere.
Among them were flowers in vases, (shown in today's photos), on every table and they were lovely.
HOW DO YOU MAKE YOUR FRIENDS FEEL SPECIAL?

Personally I have gotten away from friends.. A lot of my so called friends have went in other directions.. I think the best friends I have are on my Facebook believe it or not I have known most of them for years never met a one in person for they are all distances away.. but they are the best and have supported me through it all.. and my best friend of all was Mom and she is gone now,,, with love Janice
Oh I have such dear friends. I love them all and have had many for over twenty five years. Just today I had lunch with five other gals and we had such fun remembering times spent together over the years. Just being together again made us ALL feel special!
Yes our friends are precious. Those flowers are gorgeous and do show how welcome you are in her home.
I usually put out flowers too as well as good home made food. My friends really appreciate home cooking
Janice,if you read this, I haven't been able to leave a comment on your blog. It doesn't let me,I've tried for months. May be that's why you aren't getting many comments.
Many of my oldest friends have passed on, but I have some lovely new friends. I am happy that you are one of them xo Laura
Susan, I treat my friends the way I would want to be treated. And by treat I mean it in both senses of the word: every so often, for no reason at all, I "treat" them with some gift, a token of my appreciation. Sometimes that is a dinner invitation, sometimes just a gift...mostly though my gift is one of time spent with them, of making them feel like the wonderful people they are. I think I don't do nearly enough. Today's post is lovely, Susan, and I'm taking it as a sign I need to do something extra...Ciao for now, Vickie
P.S. Your friend's bouquets are delightful and say "you are special" without a word! Vickie
...Susan, I love the flowers for each table your friend used.... so beautiful.
I have 2 special friends who I have known for about 40 years...and I have all my lovely friends in Blogland and in my FB photography group.... I'm very lucky....
Hugs and Blessings ..

Susan you know more than anyone how to be a great friend.
I think you have to really love and care about your friends and be there for them!
Hello from Spain: flowers and chocolates are good proposals to thank friendship. I like your thoughts on friends. Keep in touch
I love my friends both near an far. My closest friend is my Mum but closest girlfriend lives over 2hours away. When we finally get together it is non-stop laughter and chatter.
I love to send hand made notes and gifts to friends to let them know just how much they are loved!
I count you as one of my friends too!
xo
