Ever since childhood, I've loved parades.
When my sisters and I were little, our parents always took us to see the Fourth of July Parade in our hometown.
Those momentous occasions remain firmly cemented in my mind and heart. They were so thrilling!
The balloons, the clowns, the floats, the marching bands, the fife and drum corps, the bagpipers, and, of course, dozens of fire trucks, all made the day's event extra special.
Now, decades later, my parents are long gone to the other side of life but parades are still dear to my heart.
So, of course, we went to one in Massachusetts on the Fourth of July.
The parade was super and brought back many happy memories.

When I was a little girl I went to visit my uncle and aunt and they always had parades and I loved it. miss those days.. the city has to many people to enjoy anything.. Happy July Susan with love Janice
I think I would have rather have watched this parade on tv with the rain and all. So sorry about the weather but everyone in the parade looks like they were having a good time after all. I love the bands the best since I remember being in one as a teenager and marching in the rain too...ha. You got some great pictures of it Susan.
I love parades - they don't do as many here as they did when we lived in Chicago - your parade looked pretty good even in the rain.
Yes, it was a rainy morning for the parade this year. I'm sure the red tent helped to keep you dry.
I,too, have fond memories of going to the parade on the 4th of July. It was such a happy and exciting day. The other highlight was going on all the rides at the carnival that took place in our town. Of course the day wasn't complete until we stayed up late to watch the fireworks display.
I intended to take our grandaughter to the parade this year, but the rain kept us home. We recorded the parade on tv and will watch it soon in the comfort of our dry house!
I don't recall going to July 4th parades as a child, but I'm sure I must have at some point. I've definitely seen a few as an adult. The only big parade I remember is Mardi Gras, and I must say, once was more than enough. I much prefer the small town kind. Sure must have been hard for them to carry on in the rain, especially for the band. They are troopers. Best wishes, Tammy
