Goodbye,My Sweet Friend

This very morning angels called my life-long friend home to paradise.

We had known each other for more than 50 years.

She actually went to high school with my oldest sister.

We called her "Lolita."

She was generous and kind, loving and sweet.

We had so many laughs together throughout the years.

She was a delightful traveling companion.

We also shed tears over life's difficult moments.

During many holiday celebrations, Lolita was with us.

To think of Christmas without her is more than painful. It sears my heart.

Lolita encouraged me throughout my life, including the start of this very blog.

She was always there, ever faithful and filled with exuberance and joy, adventure and fun.

She was my son's godmother.

I chose the autumn tree in this post because its vibrancy reminds me of Lolita.

She, too, was vibrant and filled with beauty and kindness.

A brilliant light has gone out on earth and now shines in a different realm of life.

 Goodbye, sweet friend.

Susan, I'm so sorry to hear about your dear friend's death. I lost a dear friend about a year ago that I'd known for over 30 years. She was a very unique individual and I miss her very much. Sending hugs your way.

Dear Susan, I'm so very sorry to hear of your loss. What a beautiful tribute you've given her. It reminded me of the words of Thomas Bailey Aldrich: "What is lovely never dies, but passes on into other loveliness."

I know this is a damper to your holidays, to your life. Always sorry to hear of any heartache, but the memories will be your comfort now and forever as they will never fade. Your freind is still with you in those memories.
