As I sit, writing this column, a gorgeous amaryllis plant is towering above me from her perch in the middle of the kitchen table.
She stands, rather majestically, more than three feet tall!
Several weeks before Christmas, hubs brought the amaryllis bulb home and planted her.
Almost immediately, a tiny green shoot peeked its head up above the dirt.
That plant grew like a miniature beanstalk such as known in the children's story "Jack and the Beanstalk."
Holy smokers. When she bloomed, she gave not one incredibly gorgeous flower, but four!
We are enjoying the immense beauty of this plant which is such a special and precious gift from God to His children.
DO YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE FOLKLORE OF AMARYLLIS?

Don't know much about the amaryllis, but yours sure is a beauty! The color is so beautiful too. Wonderful to have a bit of Spring in the winter.
Beautiful plant!!
That is just beautiful! I know nothing of the amaryllis, except that when January comes, I always wish I'd planted a bulb earlier. :-) I think I'll go write it on my calendar for next Christmas!
