Nostalgia....

Today a mixture of feelings fills my heart.

Outside, there is snow on the Easter egg bush.

Just when I was about to take all the colorful plastic baubles off and pack them away, we got "zapped" with a new snowstorm.

It's April 4th, for goodness sake.  The daffodils I saw sprouting must be frozen stalks of green and yellow by now.

Thinking back on all the events of the past weekend brings joy tinged with sadness.

There was a wonderful baptism of babies.

Family members, including our son and his family from far away, were all here and it was glorious.

Today, snow falls softly outside.

Beloved family members, including one of our darling little grand-babies, are gone.

The huge airplane took off with them in it.

It will take them away from us until who knows when?

There is immense joy, too, for the precious grand-babies who I can see frequently. For that,  I am immensely grateful.

Hubs, knowing of my nostalgia, got a fire going in the fireplace (bless that sweet man) and I am tucked under a cranberry-colored velour blanket on the living room couch.

Soon I will be immersed in a few blissful, uninterrupted hours of reading.

Ahhhhh, time to remain in the sweet moment and savor it.

HOW DO YOU REMAIN IN THE MOMENT?

Ahhh. sweet friend. You post was a mix of emotions for me to read too. I love how your hubby got a fire going and you settled in with your blankie! I like to do that too. If I can't focus on reading (sometimes just too tired) I like to watch a favorite movie and just enjoy with a cup of tea.
Hugs.

Oh I love to read my kindle books in my green chair in the bedroom with the sun streaming through my sliding glass door. Warmth and a good read are always welcome.

Snow...crazy weather for sure. Right here, right now, it is very hot! On the deck it is so sunny and so hot, DH dragged out the umbrella. And yet, more cold and snow could come our way yet too! But snow and fire makes for a snuggly sounding rest for you after a big weekend.

Hi Susan, I totally understand, and I'm glad you shared your feelings with us. Fortunately, our sons and grandkids all live nearby...for now at least. Our youngest son MIGHT have a job opportunity far from home....but at least not for maybe another year? I don't even let myself think about that...'cause he's my baby...my 28 year old, youngest son :)
I'm not thrilled with snow in April, either, and we've had it here a few times! I remember one year the Opening Day of baseball, for our St. Louis Cardinals....got "snowed out!"
Big hugs to you....

Ah, it must be such a challenge to see your family off like that. So glad you enjoyed your time together. And glad too that you have some grandbabies close by. Snow in April- yes, that does seem a contradiction, doesn't it? Hoping it warms up for you soon! :)

I can totally relate to the coming and going of your loved ones, Susan. It hits me every time I see them go, but I so enjoy it when they're here. They all live in California, which I'm so grateful for, and only one lives about 6 hours away. One lives pretty close, and the other lives in the same town. I don't have grandkids yet. You are so blessed with having yours.

Yes, your husband was nice to make you a fire. Small pleasures like that is how I live in the moment. This is truly a special post today, my friend.

love, ~Sheri

Always a bit sad when the offspring go home but reading under a cuddly blanket isn't a bad way to spend a few hours.

I know that long lasting euphoria...the afterglow of visiting the babies and big ones. I love it when we have a full house. Snuggling under a cozy cover and reading, now that is my idea of relaxation. Hope your snow goes!

I think sometimes memories are bittersweet - so wonderful when you make them and kid of sad when it is over. Life. I think looking at photos would be a good way.
