The Little Heart Tree...

Seeing things through a child's eyes is the best.

When a little four-year-old joined me in decorating a red heart tree for February, watching her was the best part of the fun.

Her little eyes opened wide as she saw the bare pastel colored branches of the tree and the package of sparkling, red hearts ready to be placed on them.

One by one, carefully handling each heart, she decorated that tree.

Palpable excitement crackled in the air!

She was so proud of her artistic efforts when she finished the project.

The little tree now stands proudly in the middle of the kitchen table, aglow with shimmering red hearts,  for all to see.

We can all learn to be like children again and see each moment of life for the treasure that it is.

WHAT IS A FAVORITE MEMORY YOU HAVE OF VALENTINE'S DAY?

Your little heart tree is delightful, Susan. What a joy to see this child in excitement while decorating it. Most kids love Valentine's Day, and putting those sparkly red hearts on there I'm sure made her smile.

A restful Sunday to you, Susan.

I remember exchanging Valentines at school and hoping I would get a special one in whatever grade I was in. Ha ha . IT was fun to come home and show my Mom all the ones I got.

The last Valentines Day my husband was alive (2014) he did so many awesome things, he just outdid himself. He bought several lovely gifts and a big heart of candy, he cooked breakfast, heart shaped pancakes, took me out for dinner, baked a red velvet cake, wrote a poem in his card. I remember thinking it was such a wow that he went all out. I felt cherished and loved enough for the rest of my days. He became ill a few weeks later and died in the fall. I just treasure that day, one of the loveliest we had together.

Oh how precious! So pretty. My fav item from childhood would have been the valentine boxes we always made for school. I always put such effort into them. I did always love to decorate! :) Kit

What a sweet tree! I never did much for Valentines as it was such a fleeting holiday. Temptation to get out rabbits but know more winter (and darn old chemo) yet to come!
