Chop, Chop Day

The little wooden turkey shown in this post is from Poland, the homeland of my maternal grandparents.

God rest their sweet souls, and the souls of all family members who have gone before me, on this day and always.

Anyone out there who is preparing the Thanksgiving Day feast is well aware that today is "chop, chop" day.

Chop the celery, chop the onions, chop the cooked sausage for the stuffing and, oh yes, peel and cut the carrots, cut the celery, toast the loaves of white bread, and on and on and on.

Those who choose to go out to eat probably put down quite a few more bucks but it's definitely less work.

Truly, though, Thanksgiving Day is for what it says.....giving thanks.

Thanks for healthy children and grandchildren.

Thanks for new babies who will be born in 2018.

Thanks for aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and all family members.  They are true gifts from the hand of the Lord. Treasure and cherish them.

Thanks for good health, a huge gift.

Thanks for eyesight, hearing, tasting, touching, and smelling.

Right now, I'm smelling sausage meat cooking so I'd better hop to it.

MAY YOUR "CHOP, CHOP" DAY BE BLESSED (WHETHER YOU ARE CHOPPING OR NOT!)

Did loads of chopping today. I'm thankful that I can still do it at my age. Ha ha .

Oh, your turkey from Poland is delightful, and such a treasure reminding you of your grandparents from Poland. Making Cornish hens today and mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberries and pumpkin pie, so not a lot of chopping for that. ; ) I'm thankful for all your sweet posts throughout the year, Susan.

love, ~Sheri
