Brooches are decorative pieces of jewelry that come in many colors and styles.
Some people consider them old-fashioned, like something only Grandmas wear.
Somewhere, I read that it's a shame to keep pretty brooches hidden away in dark drawers.
It was suggested, in the article, to attach them to a pillow or a white lampshade and let them make a statement.
Sooooooo, with that suggestion in mind, I pinned a bunch of brooches to a round, flouncy-edged pillow and put in on a bed in our house.
The jury is out on the "brooch pillow."
It's flashy and it certainly shows some very pretty examples of brooches, but I'm unsure if I like the "brooch pillow" on the bed or not.

Hi Susan, yes, I like brooches. In fact I wish I had some of my mother's and grandmother's. I only have a few and I usually only wear them in the summertime on a blazer. I like your pillow display of brooches, it rather looks like a fancy hat and seeing them may remind you to wear them more often. I am resolving this year to wear my jewelry more often, it just takes a moment to add some bling to our day and other people usually like to see the bling too.
Oh, you have so many unique brooches, Susan. What a great idea pinning them on a pillow. You know, I had about four brooches, and I let them go, cause they were just sitting in my dresser, as you mentioned. I hope I don't regret that. The lady was eager to buy them at the vintage shop. I kept one, cause it was too pretty to give up. It is emerald, my birthstone. : ) I'm looking at yours now, and I have to say that the pearl one caught my eye, and do I see a hummingbird? They all go well with your bedspread. And I love those white pillows.

Women are wearing brooches again. I have some pretty ones that belonged to my mother and I am thinking of wearing them rather than selling them. You have a very pretty collection. xo Laura
The only jewelry that I collect and wear is earrings....I do have some brooches but don't wear them often at all. I think the pillow looks pretty.
I think the way you arranged them on the pillow was gorgeous! I really don't wear them anymore but I do have a couple.
This is funny on Monday at our church group - one of the ladies in our group had passed away - they brought some of her broaches and let each one of us pick one to remember her - I picked an angel! sandie
I love brooches and I do wear them. One year I decorated a small faux Christmas tree with tiny white lights and pinned the brooches to the branches. It was lovely in our bedroom - a touch of sparkle. A vintage vendor recommends you wear more than one at a time to make a statement. My specialty are the snowflake shaped ones. They are certainly getting harder to find, though. I think your pillow looks lovely. They would look nice, too, on a red velvet cushion for the Christmas season.
