Flowery Neighbors

A pot of morning glories sits next to a pot of mandevillas on our back porch.

Hubs strung string back and forth to handle the climbing tendrils.

Critters of an  unknown variety started coming at night to munch but were stopped with cayenne pepper.

The morning glories have been generous with their gorgeous blooms.

The mandevilla, although late to bloom, is starting to sprout beautiful pink flowers.

I LOVE his part of summer.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SUMMER FLOWER?

I love those morning glories. When I was a new teacher, a child asked me if there were blue, brown or black flowers. I shrugged and said I didn't think so. Forty years later I am so pleased to report I was wrong.

I love the morning glories - I used to have them by my mail box - I ought to try them again.
I had no idea you could use cayenne pepper for that - I have to remember it.

Such a pretty pink color of the Mandevilla. I enjoy morning glories on early morning walks with my little dog in summer. I think my favorite summer flower is Lantana. They bring so many butterflies and hummers to the yard and they tolerate our hot, dry summers.
