Color Me Bright!

Today I saw a purple fire hydrant bright enough to knock your socks off.

It was a far cry from the usual yellow hydrants of my childhood. It was, well, kind of garish and wonderful!

It got me to thinking (and that's always dangerous. ha!)

What would our lives be like without color?  It'd be so drab, wouldn't it?

Everything we saw would be in either black or white and no in between.

Now I love bright colored anything. The starkness of black and white in decor, while sophisticated,  kind of unnerves me.

Look at the cheerful gerbera daisies below. Placed in pink basket and then setting the whole shabang on a multi-colored paper plate jazzed things up a bit.

Around here, we don't have too many plain bowls or plates hanging around. This patterned bowl currently holds bread and rolls.

A dear girlfriend of mine called me to say she was cleaning out her kitchen cabinet, had some extra dishes and asked if I'd want them? Of course! The bowls are patterned and from Italy and so pretty. Love them.

The plates are a brilliant shade of cobalt blue. I even put one each in holders on the kitchen window sills and they are sooooo pretty when the light shines through them.

Just look at this kitchen wall painted in "Morning Sunshine" pastel colored paint! The plates, primarily in blue, yellow and white, add to the decor.

On top of the refrigerator is this patterned blue and yellow covered casserole.

Despite decorators dissing brass these days, I still love it and have this goose neck faucet. The white tiles in the back on the wall are perked up with, what else?  Colored tiles from Mexico.

As a change from all white rugs in the bathroom, here's a red one that pops.

Color is important in life, the brighter the better for me.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE COLOR?

My favorite color is blue in different shades...that is the dominant color in my home. Blue and beige that is breaking off the wooden floors.
Colors definitely brighten your day doesn't it? Love the plates and bowls.
Have a lovely Day!

"it was garish and wonderful." Those are the perfect words to describe the fire hydrant!
Also...if you haven't seen the movie Pleasantville, you simply must see it!!!!!

I like your fire hydrant color much better than the ones where I live. Color is my life - I am not afraid of it like some people. It gives us the variety in life that we crave. I absolutely positively love your blue plate - gorgeous.

Blue - all shades of blue! That is one thing that hasn't changed through the years, but I also like deep shades of pink. I chuckled when I saw that fire hydrant!

I am so glad there is so much color in the world. The flowers alone keep me in awe at the glory God has created. I am so drawn to Blue right now but I also love PINK! Hugs, Linda

Okay I totally agree with you - in fact you took the words right out of my mouth. We would live in such a drab world - it would be awful. Thank God for his colors.
Love,
sandie

During the bicentennial year, 1976, the city allowed people to paint the public fire plugs. There were dalmations and rainbows, everything imaginable!
