I could hardly wait to share today's post with you.
At an outdoor estate sale at Blantyre, a luxurious resort in the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts, I found a "Christmas" treasure.
(The resort one time was referred to as Blantyre Castle.)
While looking over the tables filled with some nice, high quality items, ornate figures of the Three Kings, like the real ones who visited the Baby Jesus, attracted my attention.
Oh my goodness, they were so exquisite.
Some of the adornments on their robes sparkled like colored diamonds in the sun.
Upon further foraging, the Blessed Mother holding the sweet infant and Joseph, holding his walking stick, also came to light.
So the five figures were for sale for the incredibly low price of $5.00 each.
The tags on them said "Kurt Adler."
One of the attendants at the sale said the late owner of Blantyre used to give sets of the figurines as Christmas gifts. (Lucky guests!)
Blantyre is a simply sumptuous and splendid luxury resort destination that costs a LOT of money.
The artists who made the figurines did a truly superb job.
Next December, they will be a highlight on the front hall table.
DO YOU EVER BUY CHRISTMAS ITEMS IN THE OFF SEASON?

A lovely find for sure. I try not to buy more Christmas as I am trying to weed down as it is. I have two Nativities as is. I am afraid if I looked I would find more or more angels!
Susan, these figurines are so beautiful. They look unique, one of a kind, and even sparkle a bit. They remind me of something European, and the artist is so talented. Mary with Jesus is beautiful. I would put her out all year long. Lucky you for finding this special nativity set. It was meant for you. :)
love, ~Sheri
