Amber Glass

The Amber Room, located in the Catherine Palace of Tsarskye Selo, near St. Petersburg, Russia, must be a glorious sight to see.

Imagine a room with huge panels made completely from the glass.

Amber, a deep, honey-colored glass, is popular, also, in Lithuania and Poland, the two countries my two sets of grandparents were born in.

It's a color very reminiscent of fall.

Right now, various amber pieces line the kitchen windowsills in our home.

It comes out only in the fall.

Then, after Thanksgiving, it's packed away, once again, until the following year.

ARE YOU PARTIAL TO AMBER GLASS?

I like those little pieces of amber that entrapped ancient flies and cockroaches.

I remember seeing your Amber glass items each Fall, Susan. They are so pretty and perfect for these Autumn days. I didn't know it was popular in Poland. My grandmother on my father's side was Polish too. They look so nice on your kitchen windowsill, and I think my favorite was the candy dish in the third picture. : )

Have a blessed week.

Susan it is very reminiscent of fall. I like it. I had no idea there was a real room in Europe filled with it. My husband's family is from Poland.
