Some Dolls Are Keepers

In the difficult quest of downsizing collections and objects in this house,  a concerted effort has been made to sell some dolls.

There is a fairly large collection of my sweethearts and to let any of them go is quite difficult but it's a task that must be done.

Some dolls, however, are never going to join the "For Sale" mania.

My Polish doll, shown in this post, is one that is a keeper.

She reminds me of the Polish grandmother who sacrificed so much of her own life in order give all her children and grandchildren better lives.

So while the downsizing continues, "Marishka" will be safe and sound in the china closet, to be sold long after I am gone from this earth.

HOW DO YOU FIND DOWNSIZING? IS IT DIFFICULT FOR YOU OR EASY?

That doll is adorable especially with the littles. They are your treasure. I couldn't part with them either.

My daughter is aon a collector's quest for old quilts. My granddaughter is donating so much, nothing seems collectible for her.maybe it's the generational thing. I have somethings I won't part with, adn nobody will want them when I'm gone. LOL

It isn't easy to downsize, but I have done it and continue to part with things. Once they are gone I find that I really don't think about them too much. Of course, like you, there are some things I will never part with. xo Laura

Your doll is precious. It is difficult to part with items that are treasured. I find that having photos of those items is helpful...you are fortunate that so many of your collectibles are pictured here in your blog.

Downsizing was the hardest thing ever for me. I tried several times to start the process, but gave up because the task was too much for me ! Finally the right time came. It was very hard work but it happened with the help of family and friends I emptied 37 years of accumulated stuff that was really a burden on my shoulders. Now, I feel absolutely free knowing “things” do not have priority in my life anymore. I feel free and that feels great!

I was just talking to my neighbor about downsizing today cause she has a smaller house as well. I lived in a large house at one time, but since then, I've moved to several smaller houses, and each time I gave things away, so the downsizing has gotten easier for me. And I find smaller homes easier to clean too. Susan, just give away the things that don't mean that much to you, and keep the things that are considered treasures to you. This Polish doll is definitely a treasure and has sentimental thoughts of your Polish grandmother. I gave many things away, but thankfully I found a little vintage shop that bought some of my items too, so making a little money was a plus!

Oh I am saving my Polish Doll that I bought in Poland when I was there and also those little wooden dolls like the ones you have in the picture Susan. I'm not downsizing yet. I don't have much to downsize as I do not collect things. Good luck!
