Birds On The Run

The birds have flown the coop, or should I say they have flown the nest?  Or the wreath?

Birds built a nest inside the wreath on the back porch.

One of my five year old twin grandsons discovered it.

He even told me it had five white eggs inside.

I thought it was a story of his very keen imagination but it wasn't. It was true.

The birdies hatched and made lots of noise singing.

They turned out to be totally adorable.

They were little feather bundles that opened wide their orange beaks to get food from their Mommy.

They also, well, uhhhhh, how can one say this politely?

They pooped a lot and when I say a lot, I mean it.

They finally left and, in a way, I'm not too sad.

The back porch will be a lot cleaner now.

Like the song says,  "Bye, Bye Birdie."

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE KIND OF BIRD?

Bye bye birdies for sure. I had a pair of parakeets when I was little that I loved...Smokey and Pokey. Loved those birds but wouldn't want them now. I love the hummingbirds that are plentiful in my back yard. They are small and do not leave signs of anything ...ha

They must have really loved that wreath of yours, Susan. And I heard birds make their nests where they feel safe and unharmed. So you see, you are special in that way. I bet your grandkids just loved to watch nature right on your back porch.

My favorite bird is the hummingbird, but I love the mourning dove, Robin, and now I'm seeing the Quail a lot in the mountains. How funny they are with the feathers on top of their head. : )

We have such a variety at our feeders, but I LOVE THE CARDINALS.
