Seasonal Delights

Flowering bushes as well as a huge variety of flowers are both part of spring's delight.

It's absolutely fabulous to see all the variety of flowers at this time of year.

It cheers the heart!

Now I have a question for you that has nothing to do with flowers or flowering bushes.

Through the kitchen screen door yesterday, I observed a fat woodchuck, walking by with a piece of green plant in his mouth.

He walked right past the kitchen steps, turned a little corner, and disappeared under the back porch.

It really freaked me out.

That's his residence now.

I had noticed that an opening where I piled patio stones had been tampered with.

Also, three flower pots I propped across the opening had also been pushed over.

My question to you is what can be humanely done to get a woodchuck out from under one's porch?

I cannot afford to call an exterminating company. Someplace I read that cayenne pepper is one scent those animals dislike?

Anyone have personal experience with this type of dilemma?

If you have, thanks for sharing it with me.

Hope you all have a super day!

WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT WOODCHUCKS?

Wish I could help but I don't know a thing about woodchucks except the rhyme...how much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Oh no, so sorry you have a woodchuck hanging around, Susan. I've heard that the squirrels don't like pepper either. I do hope this critter goes far away from your house, so you don't have to worry about it any more. On a brighter note, those purple flowers are just gorgeous.

Have a peaceful weekend.

Those are lovely flowers! I’m not excited about having a woodchuck (is that what we call a groundhog where I live?) take up residence under your porch! There has to be something that will keep it from returning, though it sounds very determined if it has rearranged your blocking to gain entrance! I’ve no suggestions to keep it away; wish I did.

Oh no! I wish I knew the answer and could help you!
Let us know if you find a way to keep it away. Good luck!
