Unexpected Flowers

A very dear friend, Donna, came over for a simple lunch the other day.

We had egg salad on soft rolls, potato salad, bread and butter pickle slices, and raspberry sorbet with real raspberries on top for dessert.

She brought me a surprise! It was a bouquet of flowers from her garden.

Peonies are among my favorite flowers  with their big, showy blooms and lovely fragrance.

My paternal late grandmother grew them in several colors and they remain a part of my childhood memories.

Iris are so beautiful, too, and bring memories of the ones my late father grew so long ago.

Usually I don't bring peonies inside the house due to their often being ant "hotels" but Donna said she soaks them well in water which zaps the ants.

Consequently, I have been able to keep the lovely blooms in a vase on the kitchen table.

Flowers, of course, make me very happy so I want to share them with you!

WHAT FLOWERS DO YOU LOVE TO HAVE IN YOUR LIVING SPACE?

I received fresh and potted flowers for my birthday, and they make me smile when I see them.

I have flowers blooming outside on my patio but none in the house. I love peonies and irises and bring back memories for me too. Enjoy them while they last. They smell and look so pretty.

Those are lovely flowers! Oh, I love to have fresh flowers in the house. I’m no good at growing them myself, though…except for gladioli! They will bloom in July here. I remember them from my childhood.
