Can Youth Be a State of Mind?

(This is one of my young-at-heart bunnies)

In an article about living younger in a newspaper supplement titled "spry," two characteristics of youth mentioned are 1)openness and 2) being easy going.

Do people lose those two abilities as they get older? It has been said that as people age, they get "set in their ways." Uh oh. That is definitely something to think about and see if it applies to our own lives. After all, who doesn't want to maintain a youthful spirit, regardless of age? Being a tunnel-visioned fuddy duddy is NOT how I want to be in my old age. No siree.

How open are you to trying something new? To going somewhere you've never been? To doing something differently than what you are accustomed?

Okay, the last "new" thing I tried was last Friday night. Instead of celebrating quietly, just the two of us, I threw a birthday bash for my husband. It turned out to be a great experience that made him feel very special. There were about 15 of us all together and I did all the cooking for the bash. Score One!

Instead of making dishes that were familiar, I tried my hand at new recipes. Thought that was rather daring! Everybody loved the menu(or at least said they did). Score Two!

As for going somewhere I've never been before, got to work on that one. The travel bug hasn't bitten lately but I'm willing to go someplace new, even if it's for just a day trip. I love discovering new places! Score Three!

This week, will try to think of going on a day trip to someplace with which I'm unfamiliar. That will be my living younger goal for this week.

(By the way, spryliving.com is a good website to check out)

WHAT IS ONE THING YOU CAN DO THIS WEEK ALONG THE LINE OF LIVING YOUNGER?

Playing with my grandson brings the kid out in me. I'm all for staying young at heart as long as I live. You've got me thinking about taking a day trip...

Blessings for a happy weekend!

That sounded so cool about the birthday party and new food. Did your hubby like it?

After I read the blogs today I am going to look up a new recipe to make for tomorrow - I have a gal pal coming over.

Youth is definitely a "state of mind." I'll be 65 in Dec. and can hardly stand to be around a lot of folks "my age." I still ride the scary rides at the state fair, love to go new places, and am even more easy going than I was years ago (although I've always been a bit of a "sprite.")

Can't wait to hear about the new restaurant. Glad you had a good time...

Hi Susan. Great article and photos,,,,as usual! I just love your bunnies. I keep forgetting to take some pictures of mine to show you. Also...the beautiful bowls to eat cereal in??!! I swear you and I are Soul Sisters!! Just last night, I stopped in one of my favorite stores, Home Goods, just to browse. I almost bought a few gorgeous floral bowls, just for myself and 2 girl friends....to have for cereal or ice cream! I'm hearing that Twilight Zone music again!! :D

Hi Becky! Thanks for your visit. I LOVE Home Goods. Yes, we are Soul Sisters, as many of my followers are! Isn't it wonderful? God is so good to bring people like all of us together. I went to Marshalls and T.J. Max last night, looking for a bathing suit but no luck so far. Will keep on looking. Take care and have a sweet day. Thanks so much for the compliment on my post and photos. I appreciate your kindness so very, very much! Sincerely, Susan
