Several years ago, while visiting Flagstaff, Arizona, my daughter and I stopped at a Salvation Army store . A pair of amber glass lamps with fluted edges and "gold" ornate bases were for sale. Admiring them for their beauty, my daughter urged me to buy them.
They are perfect for your Victorian decor," she said. The logistics of transporting such delicate lamps cross-country, however, seemed impossible. Reluctantly, I left the store.

I can think of one thing right here in my studio....it's a wooden paper drawer organizer! My hubby and I were at a shop, I saw it, liked it, but decided not to buy it for some reason....
anyhow, it was an hours drive home, and when nearing the end of the trip, I just happen to reluctantly mention how I had wished I did purchase that organizer, how perfect it would have been....etc....
my hubby turned the car around and went back for me right then and there...even though I was telling him not to worry about it, or fuss...that it wasn't that big of a deal....
he still insisted on getting it for me before it was gone!
now that too is a grand gesture of love, and those are the sort of moments that we never forget, always hold dear and forever assign to that purchased object of love!!!!

I was recovering from emergency hernia and a friend sent a Prayer Blanket. I hadn't heard of these and I literally cried at the beauty of the sentiment. At Christmas I always seem to receive one gift that makes me cry. I think my kids have that in mind when they Christmas shop. They want to be the one who gives me the "cry gift."
I also have a lamp similar to yours. I picked it up at the closing of an antique shop. It was literally already packed in the box when I spied it. The owners cheerfully unpacked it for my viewing and I ended up buying it for a really good price. It is made by Fostoria and light turquois in color. Love it! And how sweet of your daughter.

What beautiful lamps and how sweet a gift... I've received many gifts of love through out my life and have many fond memories of them. One was a gold and pearl dragonfly brooch that my mom gave me for my birthday... At the same time (they obviously shopped together) my brother gave me a little gold pin of a bird and nest on a branch. The nest had little pearl eggs in it. I still have both!
