A sister of mine has a neon green thumb. She could probably grow flowers out of hard, caked mud. The flowers blooming in her yard, in her side garden, in her window boxes, and on her deck are absolutely fabulous.
(Did you read that I am green with jealousy? Well, jealousy smacks of being distasteful so I'll just say it would be nice if some of that gardening instinct could rub off on me.) Actually, one of my strong points is picking out beautiful color combinations and buying plants, then turning them over to our family's real gardener, my husband.
Of all the colorful blooms in my sister's yard, the deep blue flowers are my faves. They set off any flower they are planted next to since their color sizzles and charms. My sister said they are called "lob ilia."
No tickets to garden tours to buy, no driving around. Just scroll down on your computer screen and enjoy the bounty of nature and summer's beauties.
DO YOU HAVE A GREEN THUMB?

Gorgeous! My thumb is moderately green:) Most things I plant do well.
Happy Sunday,
Karen
Beeee-u-ti-ful flowers!! I haven't had the best of luck with flowers since we've been in our current home...about 6 years. The direct sunlight makes it harder (for me, anyway!)I also just haven't had the "drive" to plant or work on a garden.....maybe next year, since my book will be finished!! :)
So pretty. I've had some luck this year with my deck garden so I'm excited. I love that blue flower!!
Wow! Amazing colors! Love these varieties too... I have a green thumb with most things, but it's so hot and humid here in the spring and summer that I can't work outside. All of my plants are on our patio in pots... That way I can still have my plants, but don't have to work too long in the heat for them.
I love growing flowers. Some years are good ones, but some not so much. Your sister's are beauties!
These are incredibly beautiful. I wish I had a green thumb.
Oh I love them all...wish I had my sister's green thumb too or a husband but I don't have those things in my life....I love the blue flowers the best too!
Great photos, and how beautiful everything is in bloom!
My front yard is shady, so I'm limited. I haven't done much with the backyard as yet other than a veggie garden. Time will tell whether my green thumb extends to flowers.
Blessings,
Susan :)
Honestly - no - I hate to admit - I kill plants (by accident). So I go to blogs like this to take a stroll and see some real beauty.
