For Dayle's Simple Pleasures Party: Fruit, Beautiful Fruit!

Fruit is colorful, tasty, and easy on the waistline. It is a true simple pleasure of life.

Artistically arranged, it can also be a dramatic addition to a buffet table.

In the fruit tray shown above, there are two kinds of grapes and each got an individual crystal dish.  Then, there are chunks of mango. This time, they came from Brazil. Sometimes they are from Mexico, Nicaragua,  or Peru.  Mango is a delicious fruit with a rather exotic taste.

There are also fresh raspberries and strawberries on the fruit tray shown.

A dip of cream cheese, lemon juice, and honey could be served with the fruit but it tastes good plain, too. Due to calorie cutting, the platter above was served sans dippy.

Also in the photos, a couple of "firecracker" toothpicks added an extra touch of pizazz.  I had asked my husband if he had any toothpicks and when he handed me a package of those fancy doodads, I just about cracked up!

Next time you are asked to bring something to a potluck, why not opt for one of life's simple pleasures-----fruit!

WHAT IS YOUR VERY FAVORITE FRUIT?

My favorite fruit is an apple...a macIntosh...or
Granny Smith Green apple...oh yummy yummy...an apple a day keeps the doctor away. I craved apples with both my pregnancies and 37 years later I still crave them. I ate green apples off my Dad's tree when I was a wee little girl with SALT..those were the days!

Susan,
I have just discovered Brown Asian Pears which are a cross between an apple and a pear! How yummy they are with the crispness of an apple without the apple's tartness. Your fruit tray is lovely, too.

Girl, I just love fruit. You name it and I love it! I've also discovered a low-cal dip, for when you just want a little creamy something to go with it, and that is good old cool whip.

Great simple pleasures post!

Hi Susan -

It's hard to pick a favorite. I love blueberries, strawberries, bananas, and pineapple... Hmm, maybe I should head out to the grocery store.

There is tropical fruit available year-round around here! :o) so that's a good thing. I love mangoes!, pineapple, watermelon, cantaloupe, kiwi...I like them all! Curiously enough, I seem to eat more fruit during the hot months (late February-early May), than in the rainy or cold months.
have a lovely day!

Funny that you mention this! I was just thinking this morning what a pleasure it is to be able to enjoy fresh fruit. It's sweet yet you can eat as much of it as you might like (well... basically...) without feeling miserable.

I love your sparkling toothpicks. What a fun husband.

Hi Susan, I love just about any kinda fruit. Usually eat a banana and an apple every day. Hubby is always bringing the fruit of the season home when he goes to the grocery store. Today I posted about dates, although I didn't link to Simple Pleasures. Hope you are having a great day. :) Tammy
