I'm not ready for autumn. Summer, pul-eese, don't go away.
When I see displays of Halloween witches, masks, and pumpkins, I want to beat them up! Scarecrows? Send them out to the field. I don't want to look at them yet.
It's too early to say bye bye to sweet summer. No way do I want to pack the sandals away and give up wearing white capri's.
What about sweet corn-on-the-cob, fresh from the field and dripping with butter? Who wants to trade it in for tough winter horse corn?
It's so wonderful to have light filling the evenings. Noooooooo. I don't want it to start getting dark at 4 o'clock in the afternoon.
(PUMPKIN...GO AWAY):
I love the smell of hamburgers and hot dogs sizzling on a neighbor's grill and the splash of children as they cool off in a nearby above ground pool.
Oh no! Driving home from the supermarket the other day, I saw that the tips of some of the trees have already started to turn orange. Stop! Halt the coming of autumn because then, you know what's coming,
W-I-N-T-E-R.
See this window to the right? That was a bedroom window last winter. Cozy, huh?
Okay. I'll start getting ready, little by little, and very reluctantly. Bought a Village air freshener in an apple cider scent and it fills my car with a really delicious autumn scent. Yeah. Autumn.
Pretty soon, as the leaves change color and drop, one by one to the ground, it will be sweet surrender.
NOW TELL THE TRUTH: ARE YOU READY FOR AUTUMN?

Hello Everyone! Hope so much you all have a wonderful, long weekend!
Welcome to Charlotte, this blog's 129th Follower. She lives in Arizona! Welcome, Charlotte. Hope you come to visit often!
Love to all, Susan
Yes, yes, yes! I guess it all depends on where you live. Here Summer lasts until the end of October. We usually get a few days in mid to late October when we can turn off the A/C for a little while. I run the A/C sometimes even in the winter to get the humidity out of the house. It can be heat in the morning, but by afternoon the A/C. I'd love to see the trees turning colors. It doesn't happen here because it doesn't get cold enough. I think we always want what we don't have. :) I decorated the front porch for Halloween this past week so I can look out and pretend it's Fall.
I don't mind autumn as my birthday falls in that season...I like the bittersweet of fall liked the ending of summer, the dying of things, the harvest...if only we did not have to face winter! I am still smarting from the slap of last winter!
I am beyond ready for autumn! It is the precurser to my all time favorite season,...WINTER! That picture of your winter window was beautiful. I embrace snow and uggs and wind and baking and cuddling. Bring it!
I love fall and one day want to go on a leaf peeper trip up your way, but I detest winter and crawl under the covers at dark. Last winter was the worst here in St. Louis. When I lived in Alaska it was pitch dark by 2 p.m. I was so much younger then.
I must say I'm not ready for Fall yet. So many are but I still want a little more summer!!
Well, I hope that summer stays around for you, but fall can come knocking at my door!!
Enjoy the last weekend of summer!

Oh Susan, I am SO ready for fall!! It's my favorite season, although I love all four of them. This summer has been so awfully hot and humid, I wasn't able to enjoy it at all. BUT, I don't like seeing Halloween and Christmas stuff in the stores already! I say, Let each season and holiday arrive when it's supposed to!! I hope your temps stay warm longer, for you, though!
Hello, all you little Sweeties.
Oh, please, don't get me wrong. I LOVE fall and think it's probably my favorite season. Just don't want it to come YET!
Have a wonderful, long weekend! Hugs, Susan
Gasp! Blasphemy! :p After reading my latest post, I think you know where I stand here ;) Hehe.
Don't get me wrong, though, I love Summer. It's just that when you live in house without any air conditioner, all the heat and humidity gets played out after awhile!
Susan,
I am so ready for Fall that it isn't funny!!
I am not a lover of heat and this summer was horrific for me. It might have well been winter as i never left my air conditioned house!!!
Debbie
oh I completely agree!! I am not ready for ice and snow!! LOL!!
The cooler mornings are a welcome change... I am soooo ready for fall... but them I'm in Florida and this summer has been sooooo hot and humid...
I would certainly welcome cooler temperatures, the smells of Autumn and the wonderful changing of the leaves. Sadly, we don't get any of that here. So I have to enjoy it vicariously through bloggers who are able to share such joys. I look forward to all your Autumn posts. ;) Tammy P.S. It is a little too early for pumpkins and witches, on that I would agree. September should be apples, back to school, new beginnings. :)
Hi Sweet Susan!
Here in the desert, the "Valley of the Sun"...we are definately ready for Fall! Today it will be 109 degrees F... so "Bring it On"! Your pictures as always are beautiful. *hugs*
Hi Susan -
I hear you! After last winter's record-breaking snowfalls, I'm not looking forward to the cold weather.
BTW, I've linked to you on my new blog, "Susie's Sandbox." It's a more personal blog than my writing digs. :)
Blessings,
Susan
We only have summer year round where I live...it's the IDEAL place and I love every minute of it. YEH for So. California!
NO NO NO NO NO NO !!!!!!!!!!!! I'm SOOO with you, Susan! I don't want to put away my flip flops. I don't want to wear all those bulky sweaters and pull on boots every time I walk out the door. I don't want to shovel snow. I don't want to turn on the heat. Give me summer with it's beautiful colors, peaceful noises, tanned toes, and shimmering heat.... I need to move.....

Autumn does not exist in Guatemala, a country of tropical weather. Bummer!, as it's a season I would LOVE to experience!...while you enjoy Autumn up in the north, here it continues to rain! :-( less, probably, but it continues. One is able, though, to appreciate some changes: pine cones on the ground, some types of trees losing leaves, some wind and lower temperatures. All that have created in my mind an "Autumn state of mind", my very own, if you will. Yet, I would love to experience the kind you guys do, especially with the color-changing leaves.
Every season has its charm, and one wishes for specific ones more than others. In the end, we all come to enjoy them...unless they are extreme and seem to last for a lifetime! :-o
enjoy the last days of your summer!
