Souvenirs for the Dollhouse

Dollhouses are a fascinating hobby.

Anything is possible in that tiny world.  If buying a four poster canopy bed for the big house proves impossible, one can buy one for the little house.

No time to bake with your busy schedule?  Dollhouse baked goods have zero calories and can last for years!

On a vacation to Colorado in November, most of my souvenirs took up almost no room in my suitcase. They were all for my dollhouse!

A beautiful doll in a light green Victorian dress, complete with tiny umbrella, came home.  She came from the Molly Brown House gift shop. There's a feather in her up swept blond hair. She made a lovely addition to the dollhouse this past Christmas.

Also found in that gift shop was a lovely piece of lace with an ornate border. It looked great folded up at the end of the canopy bed.

The other souvenir came from France and was  a pink patterned rug.  Found in the gift shop of the Denver Doll and Miniatures Museum, it looked absolutely great in the dollhouse living room.
The tiny Christmas tree has actual red and green blinking lights on it and was stationed to the left of the new rug!

If you missed my Christmas dollhouse post and have any interest in reading it, it you can check it out here:     http://writingstraightfromtheheart.blogspot.com/2011/12/christmas-in-dollhouse.html

You'll see the new Victorian doll and folded lace in the upstairs bedroom!

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE HOBBY? WHAT IS IT?

Susan I'd say you were full of life and had loads of things you felt were worth collecting and you have made it all very interesting too!

I have things I collect too - none as pretty as yours!

No hobbies...too much of my time is spent working but I do love my job. Your new dollhouse treasures are so pretty. I know you will enjoy them so much!

I'm going to go check out the link. Even if I've seen it before, I'll enjoy it again.

My d. houses are full of inexpensive "stuff" compared to your beauties! It IS a sort of hobby for me - but the hobby part is discovering and collecting items for little or nothing. (The result isn't grand. Just a hodge-podge.)

Happy New Year, Susan. Looking forward to more back-and-forth with you in 2012!

It was so nice to find your blog! I, too, enjoy collecting miniatures for my dollhouse (besides my other hobby: gardening.) However, I could not get into the Christmas spirit this year and did not decorate my dollhouse. So it was especially nice to see your beautifully decorated house!

I used to have a couple of Victorian dolls when the girls were little. Yours is so sweet. I love Photography for a hobby, and I have been wanting a new camera to take better pictures. I hope the New Year brings you much joy.

Those are wonderful additions to your dollhouse. When people want to decorate or build a home, they should be able to go to a store, pick a dollhouse, outfit it and then tell the architect and designer to build it and decorate it. That would be fun! Happy day to you. Tammy
