Peculiar Pumpkins, Gourds and Squash!

Pumpkins and fall are synonymous.

I love going to farm stands and farmers' markets just to see the huge variety of pumpkins!

This week, we went to a place where you can pick apples. It's called Bartlett's Apple Orchard.

Unfortunately, the day we went, there was no picking. It's only on the weekends, we were told. Bummer.

But I loved seeing the pumpkins, gourds and squash----dozens of them.

And just look at the different shapes!

Isn't nature magnificent?  Nothing is the same.

Each item is unique and beautiful, in its own way, just like humans!

Hope you enjoy these fall photos.

WHAT'S ONE MEMORY YOU HAVE OF FALL FROM YOUR CHILDHOOD DAYS?

I don't remember going to pumpkin patches because my grandparents planted them. I do remember all the ones I went on as a mother when I accompanied our daughter's on their school trips. They always wanted the largest! These photos are spectacular of the variety that exists--XOXO

What a great post! I love all the shapes, colors, and sizes. And the displays are stunning!!! I need to make time to go look for some such displays around here!

Autumn memory: making apple cider on a large, homemade press with neighbors and friends. It was a huge production. Cold fingers. Carton after carton of cider to fill everyone's freezers!

I remember going trick or treating to an old house we called haunted as no one lived there anymore.
I love pumpkins too. The ones at Bartlett's Apple Orchard are just so unique..thanks for sharing them with all of us.

What a fabulous collection of pumpkins and gourds and squash. We don't get very many here and even when we do they are usually very expensive. I remember doing a hayride one year with the church youth group when I was a teenager. That was fun! For Halloween, we always made our own costumes -- never were they store bought. Weather here is slowly trying to cool off. Hope you are having a great day. Tammy

Well, my memories of fall involve eating! No big surprise for those who know me, I'm sure! My grandmother loved to have family and friends in for a big dinner, and I remember an apple stack cake that one of her sisters would bring. Call me weird, but I never cared much for it, although everybody else loved it! I definitely remember pumpkin pies, as well at rhubarb and cushaw pies. Mostly, though, I remember what a grand production those dinners were, as the older people gathered at the first table while the youngest ones washed the dishes as they became empty. Then, the next table went a bit down in age as so forth, until finally, us children got to eat. It seems that we never ran out of food, and it was all delicious. My sister, who is another of your followers, will also remember some of those times, and I hope all the memories are pleasant ones! I LOVE your assortment of pumpkins and gourds!

What I remember most about fall from my childhood is the beginning of a new school year. In those days, in this area, school actually didn't begin until after Labor Day! Nowadays, many systems are already in session by at least the second week in August!

On a trip to the northeast a couple of years ago, we skimmed through a corner of New Hampshire, stopping at an apple orchard. My husband and daughter actually went into the orchard to pick apples. I "picked" mine from the baskets of those already picked.:) It was a great experience!

Enjoy your Thursday, Susan!

Isn't it amazing how different they are all - all beautiful - but all different - just like us.

Let's see - I remember that the trees have a lot more color in the fall up north then down here.

My parents used to grow all sorts of gourds...different shapes and colours...really pretty! Fall, or pumpkin time, is my favourite season! Thanks for sharing your gourd-geous photos! lol
