"Sweet" Sprouted Bread

Have you read that sprouted bread is good for you?

It's supposed to be healthier than plain white bread or even regular wheat.

So I found a loaf and bought it. It tastes, well, kind of grainy to me.

I've been eating crunchy peanut butter for years. The brand I usually buy is Teddie's crunchy because it's plain. ( Plain meaning without sugar added, just nuts and salt.)

On a recent trip to the supermarket, they were out of Teddie's so I bought the market's organic brand. It's pretty good.

I decided to add a tablespoon of peanut butter to the bread.

Hmm, I thought. Everything would be greatly improved with a tablespoon of red raspberry jam on top!

It was!

That sprouted bread didn't taste so bad after all! ha!

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO HAVE FOR A SNACK?

It's hard to beat bread, in my opinion. We don't have much bread around the house anymore...but I do keep whole wheat tortillas in the frig. They are so good spread with peanut butter (and we usually throw a few raisins on 'em) and then rolled up.....

I always buy whole grain bread, and we like it better than white, so that's no problem! My favorite snack is a handful of mixed nuts with low salt or no salt added. My mouth just loves the crunchies! Oh, and strawberry jam or preserves always makes peanut butter better! :-)

Oops! I meant to say strawberry or raspberry! I do love raspberry, especially with dark chocolate!

It took me a long time to give up white bread....:( My favorite snack is fruit yogurt.

White soda crackers I can eat by the handful...should not because of carbs...but love them with butter, with peanut butter, or with nothing at all!

I like spelt bread. It is another grain that is very tasty and gives you a break from wheat bread.

I've never heard of sprouted bread...it actually sounds interesting to me! We make our own peanut butter here at home....just throw a bunch of peanuts in the food processor and add a little peanut oil and pinch of salt if you want it.....blend away !!!! Nothing beats it in our books...it's not super sticky like regular peanutty butters!

as far as near perfect days....well, I just try to focus on the bright side of life. Thanks for visiting dear Susan.

I'm gluten free, so I just stay away from breads in general. But I do love a spoonful of peanut butter every day!

We have been enjoying sprouted grain bread for quite awhile. I find it in the freezer section here. Also, I purchase peanut butter at a market that has the machine to grind our own, so there is nothing at all added to it, not even salt! That would be my husband's favorite snack. In fact, he is enjoying some as I write this comment!:-) I love almond butter, which I am able to grind myself as I do the peanut butter.

I do like sprouted bread. We have a brand here called "Squirrely Bread" and it comes in a variety of blends. I do like cheese whiz as a snack on the bread once in awhile. Not sure why as I don't generally like processed cheese. It probably dates back to childhood. Have a lovely day.

I am a big PB & J fan, but I bake my own bread to put it on. Just about every day of my life in grade school I had a PB & J sandwich that my mom made me; still the best, XOXO

I have NEVER liked peanut butter...crunchy or smooth...nope not me. My favorite snack with a green apple with salt...or anything with salt..like potato chips.ha ha. I'm not a bread fan either..can do without it and if I do buy a loaf I have to freeze it so it won't spoil.

I've been considering buying sprouted bread. I'll be prepared to doctor it up. :)

Thanks for the tips.

I think peanut better is very satisfying and love it. On bread, toast, English muffins and crackers. Yum... raspberry jam :)

I bring crunchie peanut butter and homemade blueberry jam sandwich to school everyday!! I like the natural pb - where the oil sits on top and you have to stir it in when you open it. Suppose to have nothing added to it!

Susan I think adding peanut butter and jelly to his sandwich is one of my favorite things to eat ever. Now what is sprouted bread and where do you find it?

I never buy white bread, though I do buy regular pita bread. My kids freak when I try to buy a grainy bread. They just want a simple wheat and I bet here it's probably not even as healthy as it should be. I would much rather have homemade bread hot from the oven. Yum! Best wishes, Tammy
