A "Chili" of a Plant

Last week, while visiting an aunt in an independent living complex, the plants outside caught my attention.

They appeared to be quite elegant and colorful.

Flashes of red turned out to be chili peppers as well as red berries!

Could they be winterberries? Gardeners out  there, please tell us!

So the chili part of the arrangement could be, presumably, edible.

Wonder if the chili plants keep birds and other critters away.

Does anyone know?

p.s. This lovely tree, all dressed in red, nearby the complex also turned heads and drew "ahhhhhs."

DO YOU LIKE TO EAT HOT CHILIES?
(Answer from here is YES! We love hot foods.)

Hello from Spain: beautiful trees. Great colorful. I do not like food with chili. I prefer more light meal. Keep in touch

I do not eat anything that is spicy but those are very colorful chili plants. Loved the fall foliage on my trip there.

Pretty fall flowers and chilis growing and also brilliant red leaves on the tree. We like mild to medium chili peppers here.

I learned recently that your ability to eat hot foods is based on how far apart the bumps are on your tongue. I can't eat hot food at all, but do love looking at chili pepper plants. xo Laura
