Bennington (Vermont) Battle Monument

Vermont is a most beautiful state in any season, but particularly so in autumn.

On a recent day trip, we visited the Bennington Battle Monument.

(They had haunted tours of it this past Halloween, but we refrained from taking one of those. ha!)

We just enjoyed walking around the grounds and partaking of the breathtaking fall foliage.

One could see all the way to the sun-kissed tops of surrounding hills. Stupendous!

There's a great monument to John Stark there, too. As indicated in the plaque in front of him, he was instrumental in winning the 1777 Battle at Bennington.

By the way, the battle did not take place where the monument stands.

More than 300 feet tall, the Battle Monument was dedicated in 1891.

It's a great, historical place to visit.

DO YOU ENJOY VISITING HISTORIC PLACES?

Susan, Google let me in this morning!!! I remember seeing this monument the first thing when we crossed the state border on our first visit. Never been in the autumn though. Your pictures are so nice to see.
