Toddler Time for the Birds
You'll never believe this but we have so much snow, they canceled school again!
Yowsers.
The other day I had a wonderful visit with my two-year-old granddaughter.
She loves arts and crafts and so do I. Plus, I love attracting wild birds to the backyard.
It seemed a perfect combination to make something crafty for the birdies so we did.
It was a cute and simple project.
I got long green pipe cleaners, although any color would have been fine.
Bought colored fruit-flavored cereal.
My little sweetheart and I looped those cereal rounds onto the pipe cleaners.
She even made herself a little bracelet!
The hilarious part, to me, was that she started nibbling the bracelet and I was afraid there would be nothing left of it by the time her Mama came to pick her up.
We hung the little rounds outside for the birdies and called it a day.
(You should have seen me trudging through the snow with baby doll in my arms! It was quite a sight.)
DO YOU FEED WILD BIRDS?

What a great idea! I will try it soon with my grand kiddos. Used to feed birds but squirrels became problem
I do feed the birds in the winter! Now your going to get some fat birds there girlfriend - but what fun!
Do not feed birds at my house as there are other "creatures" who take their place if you know what I mean. I love fruit loop cereal myself so would have eaten it before it ever got to the birds!
Hello from Spain: I see in your city too much snow. Suspended school.Wow, wow... Great crafts with your granddaughter. I do not feed the birds. Keep in touch
What a great little craft for you and your little sweetheart! We have about 1/2 inch to an inch of sleet/ice over everything, and closures are everywhere around here! This was the first day of school missed this year, and there will probably be another tomorrow as there is now snow in the forecast to come on top of all the ice. Temps will not be above freezing today.
Nice idea for a toddler craft and the birds benefit too! How did the birds like them? Bet they gobbled them up.
We do not feed the birds, but do have a lot of bushes with berries and I have seen the birds eating them so I guess they like them.
Finally having a snow free/wind free day today and the temperature is up too! Time for a long walk this afternoon.
Hi Susan....what an adorable idea....although my granddaughter lives a thousand miles away this is something so cute for all our bird friends I think I will have to make some to hang off our deck!!
Hubby's spoiled, wild mocking bird greeted me in the snow today, so I had to go inside and get a piece of peanut butter bread.
Aww ... How sweet is this time with your dear granddaughter. I'd be tempted to nibble too!
