"Summertime, and the Living Is Easy..."

One of the luxuries of summer is taking rests on a lounge in the backyard.

The fountain trickles, windchimes tingle,  and birds fly in for nibbles at two feeders or flit over to the bird bath for a sip.

Hubs, bless his heart, hung the feeders from an old line, making it virtually squirrel-proof.

They make dozens of valid attempts to raid those feeders but they cannot reach them no matter what! Yippah!

That doesn't mean the little bushy tails have disappeared.  Uh uh. They peruse the area under the feeders for seeds the birds drop.

It's a lovely retreat when the weather cooperates.

Oh my goodness yes - and we had squirrel proof cages - not the way your dear hubs put them up - but the squirrels here are QUITE determined.
Then we brought them into the attic many times - in fact we have guests there now.
We have had a wild turkey in here - foxes, coyotes, deer, (copperheads not wild life), all sorts of things - squirrels and chipmunks to boot!

Yes we have rabbits, coyotes, and other little things but no squirrels where I live....I used to have a bird feeder but no more...we have roof rats that got to it ….Glad you have your retreat so close to you.. Hope the weather holds out for you for quite a while yet.

Yes, there are squirrels I see in the neighborhood. They don't bother us though, and as soon as we walk outside our doors, they scurry and disappear. I love taking pictures of them, but don't get too close at all, as they scare me a bit. It sounds like Summer is a time to relax in your back yard and appreciate the many things around you, Susan. I always enjoy seeing your angel statues. And it's good that those mischievous squirrels can't get your bird feeders any more. : )

I am looking forward to cooler temps so I can sit outdoors and read. I love being out in nature, listening to the sounds.

Even though the plants on my balconies suffered while we were away, I still have doves and sparrows who visit every morning. Of course, I do leave water and birdseed out there, trying to help them make it through the summer. Even if there aren't a whole lot of leaves left on my little trees, they have places to perch. happy weekend!
