Thrifted Vases for Pennies for Gifts of Flowers That Won't Break the Bank

Today we are joining Thrifty Things Friday on Diann's blog, The Thrifty Groove and Show and Tell Friday on Cindy's blog, My Romantic Home.

Be sure to visit those blogs as you will be in for a real treat, with so many fascinating things to see from around the USA and beyond.

Because flowers make perfect gifts for almost  for all occasions, as well as no occasion at all, it's important to have plenty of vases on hand.

In fact, three entire small shelves in our old-fashioned pantry are filled with vases of every description and size. Most, if not all of them, were thrifted and cost just pennies!

Silver vases always look regal. The yard sale silver vase shown below fits perfectly with the 49-cent thrift store silver tray beneath!

Here's a big silver vase with a thick rope attached, also a thrift store find for less than $3.00.

Who says all vases have to be traditional?  All kinds of non-vases can also make great containers for blooms.

Look at the sweet flower-covered sugar bowl, shown at the top of this post and below.

It was a thrift store treasure for under $3.00!

Wouldn't small white or pink roses look charming in this?

Or what about a few perfect yellow roses or purple violets in a cup covered with the same?

Scouting for  bargain vases is a perfectly justifiable excuse for going thrift store shopping, right?

Thrift stores have all kinds of really gorgeous vases of every possible description.

Even very plain containers can be spruced up and made more beautiful by tying special ribbons around them.

Or even some plain raffia,  tied around a vase, makes it look special:

Are you partial to crystal and cut glass? These can often be purchased very inexpensively.

Next time you go to a thrift store, leave the guilt about shopping again behind. You will have the perfect excuse---- checking out the vases for future blooms that will make  perfect gifts without breaking the bank.

HAVE YOU USED NON-TRADITIONAL CONTAINERS FOR FLOWERS?

I know you Susan and you love flowers - you get them given to you and you will even buy some sometimes - so you have to have vases and you do - a lot of pretty ones and unique.

I love the one where you tied the purple netting around it.

So creative,
sandie

Susan, you should be an interior decorator; you have that special touch.

These are all beautiful. I am guilty of having vases but grabbing a fruit jar instead for flowers at home!

Your flowers and ideas are always so lovely! I own one vase--I guess I haven't given flowers away but that would be a cool thing to do--keep vases on hand and buy a bouquet for people!

I often use thrifty vases for gifting flowers. Love the little one's for a bloom or two...sweet. I love the sugar bowl for flowers, they make great little planted gifts. Great thrifty post! Hugs, Linda

I have some vases that I use, but now I like to save glass jars and use them instead. They can be glammed up with ribbon or rafia or a crochet cover. With small jars, I can buy a bunch of flowers, divide them up, keep some for myself and give the rest away. :) Hope you are having a great day. Tammy

Hi Susan!
This is such a good idea!...As if I need another excuse for thrift shopping *winks*
I've collected a lot of old ironstone pitchers (I can't help myself...I'm attracted to them like a bee to honey) And giving them away with some beautiful flowers would be a great way for me to cull my collection whilst forcing....Ahem I mean sharing my ironstone love with others *winks*

And regarding your comment about my Vieux Paris figures, I did have an expert friend tell me they were worth probably between $250-$350 so I did pretty good!
Isn't it every thrifter/collectors dream to stumble upon the Picasso in the attic? *winks* I have my fingers crossed and my eyes open that it'll happen one of these days! Lol! Vanna
