Candles, We've Got Candles, We've Got Lots and Lots of Candles

Candles do more than provide a little light.

They add elegance to the atmosphere.

Some have lovely scents.

They perk up a side table or old-fashioned buffet, like the one shown below:

They come in all sizes, styles and colors.

I have picked them up for pennies at yard sales and in thrift shops, stashed them in a spare cupboard and then used them all through the year.

On Martin Luther King Day, a very dear Polish aunt who I rarely see, came to visit with my sweet cousin.

Phone calls to my sisters, daughter and family, and a couple of other cousins were quickly made and everyone went along with the spontaneity of the day.

It was a wonderful reunion!

What a blessing it is to be part of a big, lively family who can come together at a moment's notice.

Thank goodness it was a happy occasion. We have also gathered in times of worry and sorrow. We support each other in all circumstances. What a gift!

There had to be kielbasa, for this was  a Polish luncheon, as well as "kapusta" (cabbage, potatoes, and sauerkraut), and, of course, golumpki (not photographed because they got eaten up so fast! ha)

Adding to the gala lunch were, you guessed it, lots and lots of candles!

DO YOU USE CANDLES ON A DAILY BASIS?

I stopped before writing this to light a candle that was a Christmas gift. It has 4 layers, each a different scent. We do love candles. Your red glasses and the plates are very festive.

So great that you were all able to gather together for a special visit with your aunt! The table is so pretty and the menu sounds delicious!

Hello from Spain: you have many candles. I like scented candles vanilla and coconut. I have no candles at home because I have little girls. Fabulous table. Keep in touch

This sounds fun to me and oh the food, so yummy!
Yes, Susan, I have been using so many candles this year! I have decided instead of saving them-I am burning them, they add such a lovley warm ambiance.
Thank you for your thoughtful visit too!
Hugs,
Jemma

No I don't use candles on a daily basis - because I am afraid of fire here with my teen - not that he would start anything on fire on purpose - but you never know what can happen with an accident.

Love your Polish food and your spontaneous dinner party. I saw your doll house there and front door - your dining room goes off to the right mine goes to the left.
