A Gift for the Taking

Some people make the world a better place just by being in it.

In a neighborhood last week, a family with children showed immense generosity.

They put dozens of children's book, toys, puzzles and stuffed animals out on a strip of lawn in front of their house.

A sign noted that everything was free for the taking.

There were no Craig's list or eBay announcements to make money with the items.

The family apparently just wanted to share their bounty with others.

The oversized Lego set with table came home with me.

We also happily claimed a slew of children's books.

The Lego set and table were given a good scrub and allowed to dry in the sun.

Then, with the help of a three year old, the first construction project was a castle, as shown in the photo at the top of this post.

To the unknown and very generous family, who may never even see this post, I say, "Thanks a million."

Your neighbor's kindness is admirable! I'm sure you will think of their generosity often. And I'll bet you'll make a lot of fun memories with your sweet grandchildren too! :)

Have a wonderful week!

Generosity is like a pebble thrown into still water; it makes circles that reach out and out and out....And so it goes for generosity.

What wonderful and colorful blocks! And a table to boot. Wow! Lucky 3 three old.

So nice to "pay it forward." I love the idea of giving to others when things have become obsolete. Funny, I had to buy a lot of toys and books when we started having grandchildren. I should have saved some! XOXO

What goes around comes around. You give something and get something back two fold.
Nice lego set and table. I'm sure the books will be cherished too.

We often set things up at the top of the street with a sign saying FREE. I think it a way to recycle that makes people smile. Glad you found something wonderful where you live. The castle is very sweet. Thanks to the folks who MADE your day. Kindness is contagious.

Okay I think generosity is something you should teach your children. I am not sure if it is learned or just something on the inside tho. We don't see many people put things outside like that - but I do see a lot of generous things going on in the world.

I think that is a great way to teach your children to give and being generous is something we need more of. Wonderful!!

.. how wonderful... I love it when people are generous and share things for free.....there are a lot of units where I live and often things are put on the fences with a note saying FREE.. or in the case of electrical things the notes say.. WORKING and FREE..... we do this ourselves and we pass things on to family and friends.
Your lego table is great and I love the castle.... books never go astray.. xxxx
...hugs Barb xxxx

When you are finished with something always good to pass it on to someone else.

I think that is awesome and a very good way to rehome things you no longer need or want.
