Gingerbread Architecture

One fun activity we did during a recent stay of special house guests was decorate gingerbread houses.

I've made them from scratch for many years, thanks to great directions found in the book, "A Family Raised on Rainbows" by Beverly K. Nye.

A dear friend, Lola, gave me a copy of that book decades ago.

The houses are simple to make and go together fairly quickly.

Kids love this activity.

There are dozens of different kinds of candies that can be used.

This year, we even scarfed some leftover Halloween candies!

Fun, fun, fun.

HAVE YOU DECORATED A GINGERBREAD HOUSE?

Your gingerbread houses are lovely! I have made some store bought ones - never homemade.

what a sweet heartfelt project. are they just for decoration or do you get to eat them at some point?
